Calvin Elroy Pickering is married to Jessica...came to the U.S. from the Virgin Islands while in high school...graduated from King (Tampa, Fla.) High in 1995...Selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 35th round of the 1995 June draft...Participated in the 2004 Royals Caravan.
2004
Played in 35 games for the Royals in 2004, batting .246 (30-122) with 7 home runs and 26 RBI after having his contract purchased from Omaha (AAA) on Aug. 22...Spent most of the season with Omaha...batted .314 with 12 doubles, 35 home runs and 79 RBI in 89 games for the O-Royals...was leading the Pacific Coast League in home runs and slugging percentage (.712) at the time of his promotion to the big leagues...Named to the 2004 mid-season and postseason PCL All-Star teams...was named Omaha's Player of the Year by the Royals...Made his Royals debut on Aug. 22 vs. Texas, going 2-for-3 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI...set a club record for most RBI in a KC debut...hit his 1st career grand slam in the 3rd inning, becoming the 1st player to hit a grand slam in his 1st offcial at bat with a club since division play started in 1969...added a 2-run homer in the 5th...gave him homers in his last 3 big league at bats (also Oct. 5, 2001 for Boston at Baltimore)...Also homered in his 2nd game with KC at Anaheim on Aug. 23, his 6th-straight game with a homer including his last 4 at Omaha...Set a career and Royals season high with 3 doubles on Sept. 22 at Tampa Bay...was the 1st Royal to hit 3 doubles in a game since Mike DiFelice on Aug. 11, 2003 vs. New York...Had 4 home runs through his 1st 8 games before going 14 games without a homer.

Opened the season with Vaqueros in the Mexican League...hit .323 (94-291) with 13 doubles and 25 home runs in 88 games.
Had his contract purchased from Vaqueros by the Cincinnati Reds on Aug. 4.
Hit .284 in 26 games for Louisville...was granted free agency on Oct. 15.
2002
Missed 2002 recovering from surgery to repair a torn quadriceps muscle.
2001
Began the season at Rochester (Baltimore AAA), and hit .282 with 21 HR and 98 RBI and was named to the International League Post-Season All-Star Team.
Was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for future considerations on Aug. 30 and was promoted to the Major League roster on Sept. 1...went 1-for-4 with an RBI in 4 pinch-hit appearances.
Was claimed off waivers by Boston on Sept. 6...his 1st Red Sox hit was a solo HR off Tampa Bay's Ryan Rupe on Sept. 20. free agent, Nov. 11, 2003.
2000
Was limited to 60 games at Rochester with an injured left quadriceps in 2000...did not play after June 19 and had surgery on Aug. 30.
1999
Spent most of the season with Rochester, but had 2 stints with the Orioles, appearing in 23 games with Baltimore.
Was hitting .251 with 5 HR and 24 RBI through June with Rochester, then batted .313 with 11 HR and 39 RBI from July 1 through the end of the season.
Joined Baltimore for their exhibition game at Camden Yards vs. Cuba May 3...also participated in the MLB Futures Game in Boston.
1998
Spent most of the year with Bowie where he led the Eastern League with 31 HR, 114 RBI, a .566 slugging percentage and a .434 on-base percentage.
Named Eastern League Player of the Year and to the Howe SportsData "All-Prospect Team."
Made his Major League debut with the Orioles on Sept. 12 vs. Anaheim as the designated hitter...collected his 1st M.L. hit on Sept. 19 vs. New York, a HR off David Cone.
