Christopher Robert (Chris) Coste attended Concordia College (Division III) in Moorhead, MN...Was a three-time All-American and finished his career with a .442 (102-366) batting average...Also went 21-5 with seven saves in 38 games..Left having tied or broken 15 Cobber records...His autobiography "The 33-year-old Rookie" was released in 2008 detailing his journey through the minor leagues to the majors.

2009

Hit .224 (46 -205) with 13 doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI in 88 games with Philadelphia and Houston...Acquired by Houston on July 10th off waivers from Philadelphia...Had a game-tying RBI double in the ninth inning of a 4-3 win on July 22nd vs. St. Louis...Also broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run double in a 5-4 win on July 24th vs. New York (NL).

2006

Second straight season as a non-roster invitee to Phillies spring training...Batted .463 (19-41), 5 2B, 3 HR, 11 RBI in spring training, but began the season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (AAA)...Had his contract purchased on 5/21...Homered in his 2 games prior to being called up...At 33 years, 111 days old, made his ML debut on 5/26 vs MIL, making him the oldest player to make his ML debut with the Phillies since Izzy Leon on 6/21/45 at 34 years, 168 days old...Began his ML career 0-for-13 before getting his first hit and RBI, 6/16 vs TB (James Shields)...Slugged his 1st ML HR, 7/19 at SF (Mike Thompson)... Split the season between Akron (AA) of the Eastern League and Buffalo (AAA) of the International League and led the Indians organization with a .324 batting average.

Signed by Pittsburgh on January 5th, but was released on April 5th...Signed by Fargo-Moorhead of the Independent Northern League to play his fourth season with the club...Finished third in the league in total bases (188) and hits, and fourth in runs and batting average.
