2011
Began the season with BOS but pitched just 4 games, compiling no record and a 16.20 ERA (3 ER/1.2 IP), before being designated for assignment on 4/8...Was 1 of 4 ML hurlers and the only AL pitcher to appear in each of his club's 1st 3 games of the season, tossing 1.2 scoreless frames in that time...Surrendered 3 runs without recording an out on 4/6 at CLE...Left with the bases loaded and all 3 runs came around off Dan Wheeler...Signed with the Red Sox on 2/9 with an invitation to Spring Training and was selected to the ML roster on 3/26...Boston became his 11th team in his 15-year career...In Spring Training, led Sox pitchers in appearances (11) and ground out/fly out ratio (3.80), going 1-1 with a 2.45 ERA (3 ER/11.0 IP), lowest among club relievers with at least 10.0 IP.

Tied for 3rd among Cardinals relievers with 59 appearances, including 51 scoreless outings...Induced 7 double plays in 38.0 innings for a rate of 1.66 per 9.0 innings, 5th-best among NL relievers...Held right-handed batters to a .177 clip (11-for-62), the 5th best mark in the Majors among left-handed relievers (min. 50 at-bats)...Was 1 of just 5 southpaws with at least 50 at-bats against right-handers and no homers allowed...Allowed just 2 homers on the year, both to Atlanta's Jason Heyward...Held opponents to .111 clip (1-for-9) in bases loaded situations with 3 double plays induced...Gave up just 1 run in his 1st 25 appearances for a 0.54 ERA (1 ER/16.2 IP)...Did not allow a run in 14 May appearances (10.1 IP), including 12 games without a hit...Picked up his 4th career save on 7/25 at CHI...Hit the DL with a left elbow sprain from 8/16 through 9/1.
