Spent most of the season with Amarillo (AA), playing 107 games and hitting .227 (93-for-409) with 23 2B, 1 3B, 16 HR, 59 RBI and 32 BB…made 1 rehab assignment with AZL Padres 1 (R) after being shelved with an oblique injury, batting .667 in 4 games...Entered 2019 rated as the Padres No. 15 prospect by Baseball America, ESPN.com and MLB Pipeline...Before being sidelined on the IL, hit .209 (41-for-196) from April 2-May 31 with 12 2B, 5 HR, 22 RBI and 18 BB...Placed on the 7-day Injured List on June 2 with an oblique injury…sent to AZL Padres 1 on a rehab assignment on June 25, where he hit .667 (8-for-12) in 4 games…was activated from the IL on June 30...In 57 games from July through the end of the season, hit .244 (52-for-213) with 11 2B, 1 3B, 11 HR, 37 RBI, 30 runs scored and 14 BB...Hit .284 (31-for-109) with RISP with the Sod Poodles...Hit .256 (10-for-39) with 2 2B, 2 HR and 6 RBI in the Texas League playoffs…hit a 3-run HR as part of a 7-run outburst in the 9th inning of the Sod Poodles 8-3 comeback victory over Tulsa in the decisive 5th game of the Texas League Finals...Following the season, played in the Arizona Fall League for the Peoria Javelinas with teammates Elliot Ashbeck, Osvaldo Hernandez, Reiss Knehr, Reggie Lawson, Jacob Nix, Logan Driscoll and Owen Miller…played in 18 games but went just 8-for-44 (.182).
Spent the majority of the season with Lake Elsinore (A), earning California League Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star honors, before earning a promotion to San Antonio (AA) on 8/9...Hit safely in 14 of his first 17 games (.354) from 4/5-22 with seven doubles, three HR eight RBI and 12 runs scored...went 0-for-22 with 12 SO in the his final six April games...Saw his OPS rise in each full month he spent with the Storm: .771 in April, .824 in May, .916 in June and .975 in July...Slashed .369/.417/.559 in the month of July...his .369 AVG and .417 OBP were the two highest clips for any calendar month in his career...only teammate Luis Torrens (.375) had a higher average in the Cal League in July... Promoted to SA on 8/9 where he homered in back-to-back games in his fourth and fifth Double-A contests, marking the fifth time in his career he had homered in consecutive games...Made 21 appearances (all starts) at 3B for the Misisons...hit .154 (12-for-78) with two HR, five RBI and five runs scored... Started at 3B in all eight of SA's postseason games and commited zero errors in 24 chances while hitting .250 (8- for-32) with two doubles, one HR, two RBI and two runs scored...Despite being promoted to SA for most of August and a playoff run into September, he still finished tied for fourth in the Cal League with 35 doubles, fifth in SLG (.498) and ninth in HR (17)...Named an MiLB Organization All-Star for SD following the season and played in the Arizona Fall League for the league champion Peoria Javelinas, hitting .228 (18-for-79) with five doubles, two HR, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored...Entered 2019 rated as the Padres No. 15 prospect by Baseball America, ESPN.com and MLB Pipeline.
Spent the entire season with Fort Wayne (A) and ranked among Midwest League leaders in at-bats (491, T-3rd), games played (125, T-5th), HR (20, T-5th), hits (124, T-9th), RBI (69, T-9th) and XBH (T-9th)...Along with teammate Fernando Tatis Jr.'s 21 HR, the duo became the first 18-year-olds to hit at least 20 HR in the Midwest League since Derek Parks clubbed 24 for the Kenosha Twins in 1987...Potts' 20 HR ranked tied for second in TinCaps' history with Jake Patterson (1997), behind only Tatis Jr.'s 21...Earned MiLB.com MWL Player of the Month in August, hitting .346 with 10 2B, 8 HR, 23 RBI and 21 runs scored in 27 games...Earned MWL Player of the Week for the week of August 20, hitting .500 (14-for-28) with 5 multi-hit efforts in 7 games.
Made his professional debut with the AZL Padres (R) and hit .295 (54-for-183) with 12 2B, 2 3B, 1 HR and 21 RBI and 35 runs scored in 43 games…was assigned to Tri-City (A) on Aug. 19 and hit .233 (14-for-60) with 1 3B, 6 RBI and 7 runs scored.
