Randall Jai Miller was originally signed by Marlins scout Dave Dangler...Graduated from Selma High School (AL) in 2003...Also played basketball and football in high school...Was ranked in scout.com's Top 50 wide receiver recruits in 2003...As a senior, he threw for 1,268 yards and 14 TD while rushing for 812 yards and seven touchdowns as quarterback...Signed a letter of intent to play wide receiver and point guard at Stanford before signing with the Marlins.
2011
Earned a September promotion to Oakland after spending the entire regular season at Triple-A Sacramento...Batted .276 with 32 home runs and 88 RBI in 110 games with Sacramento...The home runs were a career high, besting previous high of 19...Also had career highs in runs (81), RBI (88), slugging percentage (.588), on-base percentage (.368) and strikeouts (179)...Ranked second in the Pacific Coast League in home runs, fourth in slugging and tied for seventh in extra base hits (60)...The home runs tied for fourth in all of Minor League Baseball and the strikeouts ranked fourth...His slugging percentage was 10th best in all full season leagues...Led the A's farm system in home runs, RBI and slugging, tied for the lead in extra base hits, ranked second in runs and was third in total bases (241)...Was a perfect 16-16 in stolen base attempts...Batted .301 with runners in scoring position...Hit .314 with nine home runs in the first inning...Appeared in 76 games in center field, 32 in right field and one in left field...Hit .305 with nine home runs and 23 RBI in 24 games hitting eighth...Was promoted to Oakland Sept. 11 and went 3 for 12 (.250) with a home run and two RBI in seven games with the A's...Made two starts in right field and also appeared in three games in center field...His lone home run came in the final game of the season Sept. 28 @SEA.

Was with Florida during the spring but was claimed off waivers by Oakland and Kansas City before finally seeing action in the majors with the Royals in late August...was recalled by Kansas City Aug. 18 and hit .236 with one home run and four RBI in 20 games with the Royals...hit .292 (7 for 24) against left-handed pitching, .194 (6 for 31) with his lone home run against right-handers...was 1 for 12 (.083) with runners in scoring position...made 13 starts in right field and two in left field...was also 0 for 2 as a pinch hitter...singled off Eddie Bonine to lead off the ninth inning Aug. 23 at Detroit for his first Major League hit...hit his first big league home run Sept. 18 against Cleveland, a two-run shot in the fifth inning off Justin Germano...spent the balance of the season in the Pacific Coast League where he combined for a .252 batting average with 24 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs and 57 RBI in 94 games with Sacramento and Omaha...struck out 132 times, which was fourth most in the PCL...hit .264 (28 for 106) against left-handed pitching and .247 (59 for 239) against right-handers...batted .193 when leading off an inning...appeared in 37 games in center field and 31 in right field...saw most of his action batting seventh (32 games), eighth (32) and sixth (22) in the order.

In his second season at the tirple-A level, and seventh professional season overall, set a career-best with a .289 average in 102 games for the New Orleans Zephyrs...Hit in a season-long 11 consecutive games from June 8-19, batting .400 (18x45) with nine doubles, one home run and eight RBI. Doubled in nine of those 11 games, including seven straight from June 12-18...Also tallied two nine-game hit streaks; July 2-11 and August 7-17...Tallied three hits on April 15 at Memphis. Equaled the season-best hit total eight more times on the year, with the last being August 9 at Sacramento...Hit two home runs on July 10 vs. Omaha, finishing the day 3x4 with two runs and two RBI...Drove in four runs on August 8 at Fresno to mark a season-high...Homered in consecutive days on August 14-15, both vs. Colorado Springs...Carried a .323 average (30x93) in the month of June, connecting on three home runs while driving in 19 runs...Prior to the All-Star break, posted a .305 average (61x200). After the break, average slipped to .266 (38x143).
2008
Began sixth professional season at triple-A Albuquerque, where he batted .267 with 19 home runs and 56 RBI in 117 games...tied for the club lead with five triples and was second on the club with 20 steals...Connected for two home runs on June 26 at Iowa, finishing the game 3x4 with two runs and three RBI...Prior to his recall on June 21, hit in six consecutive games...upon his return to Isotopes on June 23, continued his streak to 10 games, batting .417 (15x36) with two doubles, four homers, 10 runs scored and six RBI...Made Major League debut on June 22 at Oakland, entering the game in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement...struck out in his only at-bat...Owned seven three-hit games and had 34 multi-hit efforts on the season...Drove in a season-high five runs on August 11 vs. Oklahoma City, thanks to an eighth inning grand slam off Kameron Loe.

Batted .261 with 26 doubles, 14 home runs and 58 RBI in 129 games for Double-A Carolina...was named Carolina League Player of the Week for the week of April 23-29 after batting .500 (11 for 22) with two home runs and four RBI...was second on the Mudcats roster with 55 walks and third with 58 RBI...played 123 games in the outfield...hit .233 with one home run and nine RBI for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League.

Played for Single-A Jupiter and batted .209 in 111 games...ranked 13th in Florida State League and fourth in Marlins' organization with 24 stolen bases.

Spent his second consecutive season with Single-A Greensboro...hit .207 with 13 home runs and 34 RBI in 115 games...tied for fourth among Marlins' minor leaguers with 57 walks.
