Closser...resides in Garner, North Carolina with wife, Holley, and daughters Isabelle and Callie McKenna...attended Alexandria Monroe (IN) High School, where he was named 1998 Mr. Baseball by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association...selected by Arizona in the fifth round of the June 1998 First-Year Player Draft...signed by Diamondbacks' scout Scott Jaster.
2010
Spent the season with Triple-A Albuquerque, hitting .268 with three home runs and 27 RBI in 92 games ... appeared in 46 games at catcher, 31 at first base, 11 at third base and three as an outfielder ... Batted .320 (33-for-103) with eight doubles and 14 RBI in 35 games after the All-Star break ... Heated up during the summer months, batting .292 (14-for-48) in 21 June games, .290 (9-for-31) in 13 July games and .321 (26-for-81) in 26 August games ... Hit .293 (56-for-191) in 72 night games, but just .190 (12-for-63) in 20 day games ... Batted .295 (36-for-122) in 45 home games at Isotopes Park, while hitting just .242 (32-for-132) in 47 road contests ... Spent most of the season at Triple-A Colorado Springs, where he batted .298 with 8 HR and 30 RBI in 70 games...Also had a pair of stints with Colorado, batting .196 with 2 HR and 11 RBI in 32 games...Made 27 starts for the Rockies, all at catcher...Was recalled for the first time on 5/26 when Danny Ardoin went on the disabled list.....was optioned back to Colorado Springs on 6/30 before returning to the Rockies on 9/4 for the remainder of the season...Threw out 6 of 23 runners attempting to steal (26.1%)...Hit his second career pinch-hit homer on 6/17 at St. Louis with a solo shot off Jason Isringhausen.

Batted .283 with 13 HR and 54 RBI in 118 games at Double-A Tulsa...Named to the Texas League Postseason All-Star Team...Threw out 33% of attempted basestealers (38-for-115), the fifth-best mark in the league...Established a Tulsa team record as he recorded at least 1 RBI in 10 consecutive games from 5/31-6/13 (17rbi)...Named Topps Texas League Player of the Month for June, batting .389 with 4 HR and 22 RBI in 20 games...Also named the league's Batter of the Week for 6/2-6/8...His most memorable game of the season came on 6/4 vs. El Paso when he belted a 3-run walkoff homer in the 13th inning to lead Tulsa to a 6-3 victory.....married his wife, Holley, later that afternoon...Homered in 3 straight games from 8/23-8/25...Following the season played in the Dominican Winter League.
2002
Was traded to Colorado, along with OF Jack Cust, in exchange for LHP Mike Myers on 1/7...Batted .283 with 13 HR and 62 RBI in 95 games at Double-A Carolina...Was a Southern League All-Star...Produced three 4-hit performances: 7/17 vs. Tennessee, 8/1 at West Tenn and 8/7 at Tennessee...Following his third 4-hit effort batted just .131 (8-for-61) the rest of the year, lowering his average from .319...Following the season played for the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League.
