Started the year with the White Sox and made six appearances out of the bullpen before being designated for assignment, May 11...Claimed off waivers by Seattle, May 13...made his Mariners debut, May 24 at Minnesota...made only four appearances in first two months on Mariners active roster...Tossed career-high 4.0 innings, May 29 vs. New York (AL)...Tossed 2.0-or-more innings in 11 of his 30 relief appearances (7 of 24 with Seattle)...Went 0-1 with one save and 4.28 ERA (48.1 ip, 23 er,) in a career-high 30 relief appearances between the White Sox (six games) and Mariners (24 games).

2010: Spent the majority of the season with Class AAA Iowa but made seven appearances with the Cubs, going 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA (7 ER/9.1 IP) ... was recalled from Iowa on 4/14 and earned his first major-league win that afternoon vs. Milwaukee (2 ER/1.0 IP) ... was optioned back to Iowa on 5/8 ... went 3-1 with a 5.66 ERA (22 ER/35.0 IP) over 25 games with Iowa ... was on the Iowa disabled list from 5/25-7/25 with a strained right groin, including three rehab games at the Rookie Cubs ... signed by the Sox as a free agent on 11/23.

Jeff posted a 3.76 ERA (11 ER/26.1 IP) in a career-high 24 relief appearances with Oakland ... spent a majority of the season with Triple-A Sacramento... Had four stints with Oakland: May 9-13, May 27-30, July 8-11 and August 6 through the remainder of the season... Retired all five batters he faced in his first three stints before returning to Oakland for good, August 6... Did not allow an earned run in 11 of his 12 appearances through August 29, good for a 0.68 ERA and a .180 average against ... overall held the opponent scoreless in 15 of his 24 relief outings... Allowed a .278 batting average against, including a .259 average (15-for-58) against right-handed hitters and a .300 mark (19-for-50) against lefties... Compiled a 1.50 ERA (2 ER/12.0 IP) and did not walk a batter in 11 road games compared to a 5.65 ERA (9 ER/14.1 IP) in 13 home contests... Posted a 0.77 ERA (1 ER/11.2 IP) with no walks and eight punchouts in nine August contests... Allowed his first run of the season August 10 at Baltimore but then reeled off a career-high 6.2 scoreless-innings streak, August 15-26... Tossed a career-high 2.0 innings and struck out a career-high three August 18 vs. New York and August 26 vs. Seattle... Spent the balance of the season at Sacramento, where he was 2-2 with a 1.54 ERA (7 ER/41.0 IP) in 37 relief appearances... Converted a team-leading and career-high 16 saves with the River Cats ... had just one blown save, good for a 94.1-save percentage... Struck out 22 and walked just six while allowing two home runs in 41.0 innings with Sacramento.
2008
Spent the entire regular season at Triple-A Sacramento and also pitched in one playoff game before he was recalled by Oakland on September 5...made his Major League debut on September 8 at Detroit (1.0 ip, 1 h, 1 r, 1 er, 1 bb, 2 so)...struck out the first batter he faced (Raburn) but later allowed a solo home run (Hessman)...pitched five times in relief for the A's and allowed at least one run in three of those outings for a 7.71 ERA...allowed a .364 opponents batting average and four of the eight hits he allowed were for extra bases (three doubles, one home run)...opponents had a .636 slugging percentage...allowed a .444 (4 for 9) batting average against left-handed hitters and .308 (4 for 13) against right-handers...first batters faced were 2 for 5 (.400) with two doubles and two RBI and he allowed 2 of 3 (66.7%) inherited runners to score.
2007
Began the season by making his Double-A debut at Midland and, after eight outings without allowing an earned run, was promoted to Triple-A Sacramento on April 30...spent the rest of the season with the River Cats and was a combined 4-4 with 15 saves and a 3.34 ERA in a career high 54 appearances, all in relief...it was the first time in his career he pitched exclusively out of the bullpen...his 15 saves led the A's farm system and were also a career high...also topped the A's farm system in games pitched...allowed a .258 opponents batting average, which included a .194 (21 for 108) mark against left-handed hitters and .306 (44 for 144) against right-handers...yielded just two home runs in 67.1 innings and both came against righties...his opponents average jumped to .325 with runners in scoring position, although that number dropped to .206 with RISP and two outs...converted 15 of 21 (71.4%) save opportunities and allowed 12 of 29 (41.4%) inherited runners to score...tossed one or more innings in 46 of his 54 outings and did not allow a run in 41 of his appearances...began the season at Midland and went 2-0 with three saves and a 0.00 ERA in eight appearances...did not allow an earned run in 12.1 innings and held the opposition to a .175 batting average...then went 2-4 with 12 saves and a 4.09 ERA in 46 games with Sacramento...led the River Cats in saves and games pitched...picked up the save in his Triple-A debut on April 30 at Las Vegas with a scoreless ninth inning...then allowed a season high five runs on a season high five hits in 1.0 inning in his next outing on May 3, also at Las Vegas...allowed his only two home runs of the season over a four-game stretch from May 15 to 21...did not allow a home run over his final 36 games and 43.2 innings...matched his season high with four strikeouts on May 26 at Colorado Springs...his Sacramento ERA reached 6.98 on June 4 but he posted a 2.52 ERA over his final 31 outings...did not allow a run in 26 of those appearances...had a 1.40 ERA over his final 17 outings starting on July 15...converted each of his final six save opportunities beginning on August 6...tossed a season high 2.2 innings on August 30 at Colorado Springs and took the loss...finished August with a 1.42 ERA in 10 appearances...made two postseason appearances for Sacramento and allowed three runs on six hits without retiring a batter...had a loss and two blown saves in his two outings...pitched for the Arizona Fall League Champion Phoenix Desert Dogs and was 0-2 with a 5.68 in 11 relief appearances...walked seven and struck out nine in 12.2 innings...allowed a .308 opponents batting average and three home runs.
2006
Split his season between the A's two Single-A affiliates at Kane County and Stockton and was 6-6 with a save and a 4.34 ERA in 41 games, 11 starts...had career highs in wins, losses, innings pitched (110.0) and strikeouts (88) and matched his high in games started...yielded just two home runs in 110.0 innings...allowed a .265 opponents batting average, which included a .261 mark against right-handed hitters and .270 against left-handers...his opponents average increased to .381 with runners in scoring position...all 11 of his starts came at Kane County...was 3-5 with a 6.75 ERA in his 11 starting assignments and 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA in 30 relief appearances...began the season at Kane County and went 5-5 with a 4.71 ERA in 22 games, 11 starts...allowed a .263 opponents batting average, including .405 with RISP...compiled a 9.39 ERA in five appearances in April and then posted a 3.57 ERA over his final 17 appearances with the Cougars...allowed the first home run of his career on May 10 at Lansing...that snapped a career-opening 32-game, 107.0 inning homerless streak...was transferred to Stockton following the game on July 12 and went 1-1 with a save and a 3.41 ERA in 19 appearances with the Ports, all in relief...tossed at least 1.0 innings in all of his outings...recorded his first professional save on August 6 against Rancho Cucamonga (1.1 ip, 1 so)...made two postseason appearances for Stockton and was 0-1 with a save, a blown save and a 10.38 ERA (4.1 ip, 7 h, 6 r, 5 er, 1 bb, 2 so).

Began the year in extended spring training and joined Single-A Vancouver of the short season Northwest League when its season began in late June...was 4-2 with a 2.51 ERA in 12 games, 11 starts, for the Canadians...did not allow a home run and walked just five batters in 46.2 innings...averaged 0.96 walks per nine innings...allowed a .191 opponents batting average, which included a .175 mark by right-handed hitters and .214 by left-handers...opponents hit .182 with runners in scoring position...allowed a .189 opponents batting average as a starter, which was second lowest in the NWL...was third among NWL starters in fewest walks per nine innings (0.99)...was named Northwest League Pitcher of the Week, July 4-10...had a win and a loss in two starts that week but did not allow an earned run in 14.0 innings (7 h, 1 r, 1 bb, 6 so)...was 3-2 with a 1.88 ERA in six games, five starts, before going on the disabled list on July 16 with a strained right oblique muscle...was reinstated on August 14 and went 1-0 with a 3.50 ERA over his final six starts...made one postseason start for Vancouver and took the loss (3.0 ip, 6 h, 5 r, 4 er, 2 bb).

Made his professional debut with the A's affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League and was 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 14 games, two starts...did not allow a home run in 38.0 innings and walked just three batters, an average of 0.71 per nine innings...allowed a .211 opponents batting average...tossed seven shutout inning and struck out a season high eight to pick up the win in his first professional start on August 20 against the Brewers...was the starting pitcher for the A's rookie league team in the one-game AZL Championship against the Giants and took the loss (4.2 ip, 5 h, 3 r, 2 er, 1 bb, 5 so)...was transferred to Vancouver of the Northwest League on September 1 and made two relief appearances for the Canadians in the postseason (4.0 ip, 2 h, 1 r, 1 er, 2 bb, 1 so).
