Jeff has spent parts of the last two seasons with the Cubs after he was acquired from Cleveland with P John Gaub and P Chris Archer for INF Mark DeRosa, December 31, 2008...was added to the Cubs 40-man roster the same day...Is 1-0 with a 6.53 ERA (22 ER/30.1 IP) in 29 relief appearances for the Cubs since making his big league debut in 2009...Owns a 25-23 record with 20 saves and a 3.27 ERA (150 ER/412.1 IP) in 206 career minor league appearances (29 starts)...Has struck out 448 while walking 157, good for a 2.9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in the minors...Since pitching exclusively in relief starting in 2007, has posted a 2.79 ERA (75 ER/242.0 IP) in 163 minor league appearances...Attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Calif...Named to the All-West Coast Conference second team after going 6-0 with a 3.73 ERA in 2004...Graduated from Campolindo (Calif.) Jeff recorded no record with a 5.14 ERA (4 ER/7.0 IP) in four relief appearances (April 12-22) with the Cubs this season...Tossed a career-high 3.1-innings of relief, April 22 vs. the Dodgers, yielding three runs on one hit and a career-high six walks, while fanning two...he became the first Cubs reliever to walk six or more batters in an outing since Joe Kraemer also walked six, June 12, 1990 vs. the Mets...Threw 89 pitches, April 22, the first Cubs reliever to throw at least 89 pitches in an outing since Angel Guzman used 96 in 5.1 frames, June 16, 2006 vs. Detroit...Designated for assignment by Chicago, May 30, cleared waivers, June 2, and reinstated to Triple-A Iowa's active roster...Combined to go 3-0 with a 5.26 ERA (38 ER/65.0 IP) and two saves in 42 relief appearances between Iowa and Double-A Tennessee...Was acquired by the Cubs with pitchers Chris Archer and John Gaub from Cleveland, December 31, 2008, for infielder Mark DeRosa.

Jeff began the year at Triple-A Iowa, but made 18 relief appearances for Chicago, covering three stints (May 19-June 26, June 29-July 5 and July 20-23)...did not allow an earned run in his first nine outings (9.0 IP)...His season ERA was at 2.76 (5 ER/16.1 IP) through his first 15 outings for Chicago...he allowed seven runs in his final three games (1.1 IP), July 2-21, raising his ERA to 6.11...Posted a 1.17 ERA (1 ER/7.2 IP) in eight road games at the big league level, compared to a 9.90 ERA (11 ER/10.0 IP) in 10 contests at Wrigley Field...With Triple-A Iowa this season, went 0-2 with 10 saves, a 3.16 ERA (15 ER/42.2 IP) and 43 strikeouts in 36 relief appearances...His 10 saves with Iowa marked a career high...Logged a 2.66 ERA (6 ER/20.1 IP) in 14 games prior to the Triple-A All-Star break...had a 3.63 mark (9 ER/22.1 IP) in 22 games in the second half.

Jeff split the season between Triple-A Iowa and Chicago, making 11 relief appearances - including his major league debut - during four stints with the Cubs (July 10-29, July 30-August 5, August 8-10 and September 7 through the end of the season)...Held the opponent scoreless in seven of his 11 outings with Chicago, including the first four games to begin his career (5.2 IP)...Opponents hit just .167 (2-for-12) in "close and late" situations...Made his major league debut July 10 vs. St. Louis, needing just 12 pitches to close out the ninth inning in an 8-3 Cubs setback...Tossed a season-high 2.0 innings of relief July 20 at Philadelphia...did not allow a baserunner...Notched his first career victory September 11 vs. Cincinnati...allowed a game-tying, three-run homer to Jonny Gomes in the fifth, but the Cubs took the lead for good in the bottom half of the frame...Made 42 relief appearances with Iowa, going 1-3 with a 2.03 ERA (13 ER/57.2 IP)...allowed just one homer and struck out 61 compared to 25 walks...Averaged 9.5 strikeouts and just 5.5 hits per 9.0 innings at Iowa...Began his Triple-A season with 10.0 scoreless innings in eight April contests...Limited the opponent to a .175 batting average, including a .176 mark (12-for-68) by left-handed hitters and a .174 average (23-for-132) by right-handed batters at Iowa...Pitched in five games for Aguilas de Mexicali in the Mexican Winter League, going 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA (5 ER/6.1 IP).

Jeff, in his final season in the Indians farm system, split the season between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Buffalo...went 0-3 with five saves and a 3.94 ERA (13 ER/29.2 IP) in his first stint at the Triple-A level...Combined to go 5-4 with six saves, a 3.24 ERA (21 ER/58.1 IP) and a .184 average against in 36 appearances...Struck out 81 batters, an average of 12.5 strikeouts per nine innings...walked only 27, good for a three-to-one strikeout-to-walk ratio...Surrendered just five home runs in 58.1 innings of work...Began the season with Akron, going 5-1 with a save and a 2.51 ERA (8 ER/28.2 IP) in 17 relief appearances...Tossed a career-high 3.2-scoreless innings of relief April 3 at Harrisburg, fanning four...Held opponent scoreless in 12 of his 17 outings, including nine of the last 10 before his June 2 promotion to Buffalo...Boasted a season-high 12.0-inning scoreless streak, May 10-June 2, between Akron and Buffalo...struck out 18 over the stretch...Converted five-straight save opportunities for Buffalo, June 8-24...Tossed 2.0 or more innings of relief in 10 of his 19 outings with the Bison.

Split his season between Single-A Dayton and Single-A Lake County after being traded from the Reds to the Indians June 13, 2006 - was sent to Cleveland to complete the deal that moved Brandon Phillips to Cincinnati... Went 2-4 with a 4.43 ERA (21 ER/42.2 IP) in 14 games (six starts) with Dayton before the trade...Owned a 1-1 record with a 3.60 ERA (6 ER/15.0 IP) as a reliever compared to a 1-3 mark with a 4.88 ERA (15 ER/27.2 IP) as a starter...Held opponents to a .190 batting average (12-for-63) with runners on base...In 16 outings (15 starts) with Lake County, boasted a 7-3 record with a 4.42 ERA (36 ER/73.1 IP)...Rode a career-high six-game winning streak, June 29-August 7, posting a 2.41 ERA (11 ER/41.0 IP) with 33 punchouts over the stretch.
