2009
In 12th professional season, made long-awaited big league debut and played in 29 games for the Nationals... In midst of finest campaign as a pro, had contract selected from Syracuse (AAA) of the International League on August 5... WELCOME TO THE BIGS: Made MLB debut later that night as a pinch hitter as the Nationals hosted FLA... Went 2-for-14 (.143) as a pinch hitter... Made 13 appearances in the outfield, including 3 starts... Collected first big league hit, a pinch-hit single off Clay Zavada, August 9 vs. ARI... Scored first career run, September 6 vs. FLA, pinch running for Josh Bard... FEARED IN THE IL: Enjoyed career year with Syracuse, batting .367 with 18 doubles, 4 homers, 21 RBI, 14 steals and 58 runs scored in 95 games... Earned IL mid-season All-Star honors... At time of promotion to big leagues, led fullseason minor leaguers in batting average... Ranked among IL leaders in on-base percentage (1st, .424), hits (4th, 114) and runs (6th, 58)... Reached base safely via hit, walk or HBP 146 times in 95 games (1.5 per contest).

Combined to hit .317 (123-for-388) with 15 doubles, 5 home runs, 39 RBI, 43 walks in 114 games with Columbus (AAA) of the International League and Harrisburg (AA) of the Eastern League... Also posted a combined .399 on-base percentage for the 2 clubs... Reached base safely via hit, walk or HBP 177 times in 114 games (1.6 times per contest)... Had not played at the Triple-A level since 2005, yet with Columbus, hit .299 against opposing lefthanders, .318 when facing right-handed pitchers... All four home runs with Columbus came when facing righthanders... Posted a .401 OBP when batting leadoff for Columbus... OBP was .384 when leading off an International League inning.

Both offensively and defensively, enjoyed finest season of his career... Hit a combined .316 with 16 home runs and 69 RBI in 124 games overall with Wichita (AA) of the Texas League and Omaha (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League... Established career highs in runs scored (78), RBI and on-base percentage (.387)... In 2 stints with Wichita, batted .336 with 10 home runs, 49 RBI and 11 steals in 6 games... Hit .291 with 6 home runs and 20 RBI in 55 games with Omaha... Recorded a combined 14 outfield assists with Wichita (8) and Omaha (6).

Signed with NYM as a minor league free agent late in Spring Training...Played entire campaign with Binghamton of the Double-A Eastern League...Played in a pro-high 129 games...Finished 3rd in the EL with 142 hits and 4th in batting average.

Was a non-roster invitee to Phillies Spring Training... Began the season playing with Single-A Clearwater... In 14 games, hit .305 with four doubles and six RBI before joining Scranton-Wilkes Barre (AAA) of the International League, June 26... Played in only 59 games with S-WB, collecting only eight extra base hits.
