Jose Guillermo Morales...Wife's name is Edmireliz...Is a 2001 graduate of Academy La Providencia High School in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico...Played golf and volleyball in high school.
2011
Was a member of Colorado's Opening Day roster - the second time in his career he was part of a Major League Opening Day roster (also with Minnesota in 2009)...Made 17 starts behind the plate for the Rockies and threw out four of the 13 runners attempting to steal against him (31%) - the best caught stealing percentage of his MLB career...Also made two appearances at second base; 4/16 vs. Chicago (NL) and 5/28 vs. St. Louis - his first appearances there since playing four games at second base with Quad Cities (Twins' Class-A) in 2003...Batted .250 (4-for-16) from the right side of the plate and .273 (12-for-44) from the left side...Hit safely in 11 of his 17 starts behind the plate; hit .345 (10-for-29) in the 7th inning or later...Suffered a fractured right thumb on 6/15 vs. San Diego and missed remainder of the season; he suffered the injury during the game, but would finish the contest going 2-for-4 while also throwing a runner out attempting to steal second base...Finished the season on the 60-day D.L.

Began the season on on 15-day disabled list (placed on March 31) after offseason wrist surgery (missed 34 games)...activated, May 14 and optioned to Triple-A Rochester...Went 5-for-5 with a double and an rbi in his first game for the Red Wings, May 14 vs. Louisville...got hits in his first eight at-bats for Rochester, reaching base in his first nine plate appearances...Recalled from Triple-A Rochester and made first appearance of the season, July 26 at Kansas City...batted .280 (63-for-225) with 17 doubles, one home run and 24 rbi in 63 games with the Red Wings...Appeared in five games for the Twins, going 0-for-4...optioned to Triple-A Rochester, August 15...Played in 10 games for the Red Wings and was recalled back to Minnesota, September 1...made his first start (at catcher), 9/1 vs. DET...Started at DH in Jim Thome's absence, September 2 vs. Detroit and went 3-for-6 with two rbi...Started at catcher for the Twins, 9/20 vs. CLE, his first start at catcher since 9/27/09...Set a career-high with three rbi, 9/22 vs. CLE, going 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk...started at first base for the first time in his career (Minor or Major League)...made 10 put-outs and two assists.

Made the Twins Opening Day roster for the first time in his career...first career four-hit game, April 26 at Cleveland...optioned to Triple-A Rochester on May 3...played in nine games before being recalled, May 15...appeared in three games for the Twins and was optioned again to Rochester, May 22...hit in nine straight upon his return to the Red Wings...recalled, June 14...two-rbi pinch-hit single in the ninth inning on July 11 vs. Chicago (AL)...optioned to Rochester, July 15...hit safely in 24 of 28 games with the Red Wings, batting .406 (41-for-101) with 14 multi-hit games...recalled by Minnesota, August 28...pinch-hit walk-off rbi-single in the bottom of the ninth, September 1 vs. Chicago (AL)...played in 54 games for the Twins, 29 at catcher...went 6-for-15 (.400) with three rbi as a pinch hitter...had surgery on his right wrist following the 2009 season.

Started the season with Triple-A Rochester and had just six hits in his first 45 at-bats before hitting safely in eight straight games, April 20-May 1, including back-to-back three-hit games...hit his first home run of the season on April 20 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre...had four multi-hit games in six chances from May 6-12, two being three-hit games...season-high 11-game hit-streak from May 15-27, batting .439 (18-for-41)...scored three runs on May 27 vs. Charlotte...hit safely in each of his last eight games before being disabled for remainder of season with a left ankle sprain June 12...hit .327 (17-for-52) vs. lefthanded pitching and .310 (45-for-145) vs. righthanded pitching...collected 18 multi-hit games...caught 46 games for the Red Wings prior to his injury.

Was placed on the disabled list April 8-28 with a left knee ligament strain and again on May 5 through the rest of the season with a strained back.

Played season at Ft. Myers...hit .538 (7-for-13) with a double, triple, home run and two rbi in three-game span from May 16-18...had a season high three hits in seven different games, including a three-for-four effort on June 22 with a triple, home run, two rbi and two runs scored... seven-game hit-streak from June 25-July 3, batting .344 (11-for-32) with a home run and five rbi in that span...hit safely in nine of ten games from July 10-23, going 17-for-44 (.386) with 10 rbi...had 25 multi-hit games...hit .356 (26-for-73) with a home run and nine rbi in June...hit .395 (15-for-38) in 10 games as designated hitter....selected to the Florida State League All-Star Game.

Converted to catcher...began the season at Ft. Myers...hit safely in 10 of 13 games, including a six-game hit-streak from May 9-15...went four-for-six with two doubles, three runs scored and two rbi May 14...transferred to Quad City on May 23...recorded a season high with three hits on June 6 with three rbi vs. Lancaster...12-game hit-streak from June 26-July 9, batting .396 (19-for-48) with two home runs and nine rbi in that span...was placed on disabled list on August 21...hit .390 (23-for-59) with 12 rbi in 17 home games...hit .369 (24-for-65) with 14 rbi in June.
