Juan Ramon Brito...graduated from Liceo Juan Pabloe Duarte High School in 1996...older brother, Jorge, caught in 26 big league games for COL during the 1995 and '96 seasons.
2006
In his third and final season in the ARI system, batted .296 with 8 homers and 43 RBI in 73 games with Tucson of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League...threw out 20 of 75 would-be base stealers (36.2%)...hit .368 (25-for-68) with RISP, including a .458 mark (11-for-24) with RISP and 2 outs...was on the DL, May 18-June 3, with a right hamstring strain...batted .316 (37-for-130) with 5 homers and 25 RBI in 36 games beginning July 1...posted a season-best 12-game hitting streak August 10-27, batting .361 (13-for-36)...went 8-for-24 (.333) with a homer and 4 RBI during Tucson's run to the PCL and Triple-A Championships, starting 7 of Tucson's 8 post-season contests...the homer was a 5thinning solo shot against Toledo of the Triple-A International League that snapped a 1-1 tie and gave Tucson the lead for good in its 5-2 win in the inaugural Bricktown Showdown...following season, played for Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Winter League.
2005
Returned to Tucson and threw out 42.5 percent of would-be basestealers (23 of 54), the 2nd-highest percentage in the PCL...recorded a .998 fielding percentage, which led league catchers who play at least 70 games...batted .302 (19-for-63) with runners in scoring position, including a .353 average (12-for-34) with runners in scoring position and 2 outs.
2004
Made 53 starts at C with ARI after having his contract purchased from Triple-A Tucson on June 9, when Brent Mayne went on the DL with back spasms...threw out 12 of 47 potential base stealers (25.5%) with ARI...clubbed his first big league home run, June 17 vs. NYY, a 7th-inning solo shot off Jon Lieber.
1999
Juan played for 4 different clubs at 3 different levels during the season...he opened the season with Wilmington, batting .283 in 14 games...transferred to Charleston (WV) of the South Atlantic League where he played the majority of the remainder of the year, with the exception of brief stints with Wichita (AA) and Omaha (AAA)...he made his only career appearance at first base on September 2 for Wilmington.
2000
He began the year with Wichita and was transferred to Wilmington (A) in mid-June...he jumped to AAA in July and smacked his lone home run of the season on July 27 with Omaha...it was his first home run since the 1997 campaign, his first season as a pro.
2001
Juan had a season-best 4 RBI with a grand slam on July 8...his next home run came on August 4 at Tulsa and was one of 8 roundtripper hit by the Wranglers in the contest, an 18-3 rout...he made his only career appearance in the outfield in the season finale on September 2 vs. Tulsa.
2002
Juan began the season with Wichita (AA) and was promoted to Omaha on April 28...he played in only 3 games before his contract was purchased by Kansas City on May 1...he made his Major League debut two days later at Baltimore and went 1-for-3 at the plate, recording his first big league hit off Scott Erickson in the fifth inning...overall, Brito batted .304 in 9 games for the Royals, going 7-for-23 with 2 doubles and an RBI...he was optioned back to Wichita on May 28 and put together a 10-game hit streak from July 16-25 (.441, 15-for-34)...he finished with a .255 average in 89 games for Wichita with 11 doubles and 7 home runs, only one long ball shy of his career total entering the season...he went 1-for-11 (.091) for the Wranglers in the Texas League playoffs.
2003
Juan's start to the season was delayed by a month and a half as he opened the year on the disabled list due to a fractured hamate bone in his left hand...he returned to action with Omaha (AAA) on May 15...his best offensive output came during the month of June, as he hit .281 with both of his home runs...Brito played errorless ball in his 36 games behind the plate and threw out 31% of would-be basestealers (10 of 32)...he excelled against lefthanded pitchers (.393, 11-for-28) while struggling versus righties (.191, 18-for-94)...the injury bug bit again in the second half of the season as he was sidelined from July 21-August 16 with a left hamstring strain.
