In 1995 graduated from West Covina (CA) High School...attended the University of California, Santa Barbara...transfered to the University of Southern California for his senior season and hit .297 as a first baseman while finishing 7-3-3, 4.29 in 22 pitching apps.

2010

Made 7 starts for Class AAA Louisville before his season ended with a right elbow injury...on 5/16 went on the Bats' disabled list...on 5/28 had surgery to remove bone chips in that elbow and "Tommy John" surgery to repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament (Dr. Timothy Kremchek)...made his last appearance in a 12-9 win on 5/15 at Rochester (5.1ip, 9h, 5er, 3bb, 1k, 1hr)...became a free agent following the season but on 10/29 was re-signed by the Reds to a minor league contract and invited to 2011 Major League spring training camp.

2009

In his first Major League action since May 2006 went 5-3, 5.37 with 1 complete game in 11 apps, all starts, for the Reds...were his first career starts...was the International League's Most Valuable Pitcher...at Lehigh Valley (Phillies) and Louisville combined to finish 13-3, 3.31 in 18 starts and 2 relief apps...tied for the International League lead in victories and ranked fourth in ERA...3 times was IL Pitcher of the Week...was the starting pitcher for the IL in the Triple-A All-Star Game in Portland...in August led the Reds' staff in wins (3)...in his 11 starts the Reds went 6-5 and scored 58 runs (5.27 r/g)...had 4 quality starts and fell 3 outs shy of producing another...was bothered late in the season by a sore right groin and on 9/7 at Col missed a start with the injury...in his 4 starts after that injury went 2-2, 7.40...in December was signed by the Phillies to a minor league contract and began the season with Lehigh Valley...on 5/22 was traded to the Reds in exchange for cash...went 8-1, 2.51 in 11 starts and 1 relief appearance at Louisville before he was promoted on 7/31 to take the spot in the rotation vacated by RHP Micah Owings, who went on the disabled list with a tight right shoulder...when promoted, his 13 victories tied for the most among all minor league pitchers...in the 5-3 loss on 7/31 vs Col made his first Major League start and his first big league appearance since 5/22/06 for Mil at Cin...in his second start, a 4-0 victory on 8/5 vs the Cubs, threw a complete-game shutout (4h, 1bb, 4k)...became the first Reds pitcher to throw a shutout in his first or second career start since Charlie Leibrandt beat the Braves, 5-0, in his big league debut on 4/13/80 and the first pitcher to do it for any team since the Red Sox' Clay Buchholz threw a no-hitter on 9/1/07 vs Bal in his second career start...in his 5-4 victory on 8/11 at StL, earned the decision after allowing 11 hits, all singles, and 1 run in 6+ip...became just the third pitcher since 1900 to earn a win while allowing zero or 1 run and at least 11 hits in 6.0 innings pitched or less...the other 2 were Cle's Jack Kralick in 1965 (6ip, 11h, 1r) and Bal's Pat Rapp in 2000 (6ip, 11h, 1r)...in that win at StL singled off Mitchell Boggs for his first Major League hit...on 9/16 vs Hou, tied the club record by allowing 5 home runs but received no decision in the 6-5 win...from 8/16-10/2 allowed a home run in 8 consecutive apps (14hr), tying Aaron Harang (4/28-6/4) for the longest such streak by a Reds pitcher all season...were the longest streaks by a Reds pitcher since RHP Ramon Ortiz tied the National League record by allowing a home run in 15 consecutive apps from 5/1-7/17, 2005...on 10/2 vs Pit started instead of LHP Matt Maloney, who was scratched with a finger blister, and suffered the 3-1 loss...on 11/3 was re-signed to a 1-year contract through the 2010 season...3 days later was outrighted to Louisville.

2008

Spent the season at Class AAA Louisville and overseas...on 5/3 was released from his contract and was sold to the Doosan Bears of the Korean League...in Korea went 0-6, 5.66 (35ip, 49h, 13bb, 20)...was re-signed by the Reds on 8/5 and returned to Louisville...was International League Pitcher of the Week for 4/8-4/14 (2-0, 15ip, 1er)...retired his first 22 batters of the season until a solo HR by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Jason Lane on 4/7...following the season pitched in the Mexican Winter League.

2007

Spent the season with the Mariners' Class AAA affiliate in Tacoma, where he went 7-1-1, 3.99 in 17 starts and 10 relief apps...was a Pacific Coast League All-Star and started the Triple-A All-Star Game....with a 3.99era ranked fifth in the PCL and seventh in the organization...began the season 6-0...following the season pitched for Obregon in the Mexican Pacific League (13gs, 8-1, 2.86, 72.1ip, 67h, 17bb, 41k).

2006

Began season with Mil and made all 16 of his relief apps before he was designated for assignment on 5/23...2 days later cleared waivers and was outrighted to the Nashville...spent the rest of the season with the Sounds...while with Nashville allowed 3 runs or fewer in 13 of his 17 starts and 7 times threw at least 7.0 innings...following the season pitched for Naranjeros in the Mexican Winter League (9gs, 5-1, 3.40).

2005

Began the season with Triple A Nashville...went 7-7 with a 3.99 ERA in 27 appearances/11 starts...recalled by the Brewers on July 20...made his Brewers debut on July 21 at St. Louis...optioned to Nashville on August 26 only to be recalled by the Brewers August 27 after Ben Sheets was placed on the disabled list...picked up his first win as a Brewer on September 30 vs. Pittsburgh at PNC Park...pitched two hitless innings of relief in that game . . . struck out three...owned a stingy 1.84 ERA (3 er/14.2 ip) and a .196 opponents batting average (10-51) in 10 games at home...pitched at least one inning in 19 of 23 appearances this season...pitched two-or-more frames nine times...worked career-high three innings twice this season (August 6 at Philadelphia and September 3 vs San Diego).
