Michael Gene Plassmeyer…married his wife, Jenna, in December 2024…is a 2015 graduate of DeSmet Jesuit (Mo.) High School, where he played on the varsity baseball team for four years (he also played first base and the outfield when he wasn’t pitching)…was rated as the no. 21 recruit in the state of Missouri by Perfect Game…attended the University of Missouri, where he led the team with 103 strikeouts in 91.1 innings while going 5-4 with a 3.05 ERA in 2018.

2024

Spent the entire year with Indianapolis (AAA), going 5-10 with a 7.93 ERA (62 ER/70.1 IP) in a swingman role (11 starts, 17 relief appearances)…recorded 11.00 SO/9 figure, his highest total since 2018 (16.50 SO/9) in his first professional season… season-best eight strikeouts on 4/4 vs. MEM…registered season-high five innings in three starts: 4/4 vs. MEM, 4/9 at TOL, and 6/9 vs. COL…was on the Injured List from 4/23-5/16 with left shoulder impingement…posted 9.57 ERA (39 ER/36.2 IP) in 11 starts and 6.15 ERA (23 ER/33.2 IP) in 17 relief outings…elected free agency on 11/4 and signed a Minor League contract with Texas in 12/10 with an invite to Major League Spring Training.

2023

Spent a majority of the season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley before making one start to end the season with Philadelphia…Came away with a no-decision (3.1ip/3er) while making the Opening Day start for Lehigh Valley on 3/31 at Rochester…Made each of his first five appearances as a member of the starting rotation before appearing in relief for the first of two times with Lehigh Valley on 5/2 at Syracuse…Was placed on the seven-day injured list on 5/31…Was released by Philadelphia on 6/20 before re-signing with Philadelphia to a minor league contract on 6/23…Was placed on the 60-day injured list on 7/25 before beginning a rehab assignment with Jersey Shore on 8/9…Was activated from the injured list on 8/27 and tossed 4.0 scoreless innings in his start that night against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre…Had his contract selected by Philadelphia on 9/30 and started the second game of a doubleheader that night against the Mets, allowing 10 runs (9er) in 3.2 innings.

2022

Began season with Sacramento (AAA) in SF’s system... Was traded to the Phillies on 6/8 and assigned to Lehigh Valley (AAA), where he posted a 2.41 ERA (22 ER, 82.0 IP) in 16 starts... Had his contract selected on 8/22... Made his ML debut on 8/23 vs CIN, working 1.1 scoreless innings; stranded three inherited runners with a strikeout in the sixth inning... Optioned to Lehigh Valley on 8/23 following his debut... Was recalled on 10/5 for his second ML stint... On 10/5 at HOU, recorded 6.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 6 SO in relief... Was the first Phillies reliever with at least 6.0 IP and six strikeouts since Ryan Madson on 5/23/06 at NYM.
