2001

Spent the majority of the year at Lake Elsinore, where he went 5-4 with a 5.35 ERA (44 ER/74.0 IP)...made one start at Single-A Fort Wayne, allowing four runs over 6.0 innings of work.

2002

Split the season between Lake Elsinore and Mobile, combining to go 6-7 in 26 games (23 starts)...made all but one appearance at Lake Elsinore, working 5.0 innings of two-run ball in his one start with the BayBears.

2003

Appeared in a then career-high 28 games (22 starts), going 10-11 with a 4.42 ERA (67 ER/136.1 IP) for Single-A Lake Elsinore.

2004

Spent the entire year at Double-A Mobile, going 10-2 with a 3.41 ERA (46 ER/121.1 IP) in a careerhigh 35 games (18 starts)...struck out 69 compared to 31 walks.

2005

Opened the year with Double-A Mobile and earned the win April 8 vs. Tennesse...won four straight decisions from May 15-June 5, tossing a complete game shutout on May 21 vs. Montgomery...allowed just four hits while striking out six...made his last appearance with the BayBears on July 19 vs. Huntsville and picked up the win, tossing 6.1 innings allowing just one run on four hits...made his first start with Triple-A Portland on July 23, and threw 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just one hit in picking up the win against Fresno...won back-to-back games Aug. 9 and 14...finished going 4-2 with a 3.15 ERA (21 ER/60.0 IP) over nine games with Portland.

2006

He began the season with Double-A Mobile, making 18 starts there before being promoted to Triple-A Portland. He made 13 starts for Portland, and made 16 starts for the Padres. He won his Major League debut after giving up four runs (three earned) over five innings at Arizona. In his second start, he surrendered just one run over a season-high seven innings on May 23 vs. Atlanta. He also made three relief appearances, throwing a combined 2 2/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
