Began the season in the starting rotation for Buffalo (AAA) of the International League before the Mets selected his contract on August 14...Struck out a career-best 10 batters in 8.0 innings on October 1 vs. the Nationals...Allowed one run, earned, but had a no-decision...His previous high for strikeouts in a game was eight on August 4, 2007 while with San Francisco at San Diego...His performance was the fourth double-digit strikeout game of the season for the Mets, joining Johan Santana (11, August 2 at Atlanta; 10, August 12 vs. Colorado) and Hisanori Takahashi (10, July 31 vs. Arizona)...Became the first Mets pitcher to pitch at least 8.0 innings, strike out 10 or more and allow three or fewers hits since Tom Glavine on September 29, 2005 vs. Colorado...Glavine tossed a complete-game shutout, while striking out 11 and allowing only two hits in an 11-0 Mets victory...Split his time with the Mets between the rotation and the bullpen, making six starts and six relief appearances...Did not allow a run as a reliever, throwing 4.0 innings...Went 0-4 as a starter, pitching to a 4.28 ERA (16 earned runs/33.2 innings)...Made his Mets season debut and took a 4-0 loss on August 14 at home against Philadelphia...Went 6.0 innings and allowed eight hits, four runs, one earned, with two walks and two strikeouts...Lost three straight starts despite picking up a quality start in each from August 14-August 25...Tied with 11 others, including teammate R.A. Began the year with Fresno (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League, before being recalled to San Francisco on May 12th...Claimed off waivers by the Mets on June 5th, optioned to Buffalo (AAA) of the International League on August 3rd, and recalled on August 22nd...Spent two days on the 25-man roster before being optioned back to Buffalo...Recalled for the final time on August 25th...Appeared in 19 games out of the bullpen for the Mets and Giants...As a reliever was 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA in 22.0 innings...For the Mets as a reliever, he was 0-1 with a 2.89 ERA (six earned runs/18.2 innings pitched) in 15 games... Split time with Giants and triple-A Fresno while moving in and out of starting rotation for both clubs...went 0-3 with 5.68 ERA (33er, 52.1ip) in 15 games (7 starts) for SF... logged 0-3 record with 7.25 figure (29er, 36.0ip) in 7 starting assignments, with SF going 0-7 in such contests...averaged just 2.4 runs of support during his starts...was 1 of 9 Giants pitchers to start contest in 2008, and 1 of 6 who is product of SF minor league chain...other Giants farmhand starters included: Matt Cain, Jonathan Sanchez, Tim Lincecum, Kevin Correia and Brad Hennessey...made initial start in place of Barry Zito (brief stint in bullpen), but later filled spot necessitated by Kevin Correia's injury...pitched much better in relief role, posting no record with 2.20 ERA (4er, 16.1ip) in 8 games...was hampered by long ball, surrendering 11 total HRs (8 as starter, 3 as reliever) in just 52.1 innings...was recalled from triple-A Fresno April 27, and immediately worked career-long 6.0 innings of relief that afternoon vs. Cincinnati (taking over for Zito)...6.0-frame relief effort was longest by Giant since Jamey Wright also went 6.0 innings out of bullpen Aug. 19, 2006 vs. Dodgers...was recalled for 2nd time Sept. 2 and appeared in just 5 of SF's final 25 games, allowing 2 earned runs in 5.1 innings...logged 6-5 record with 5.38 ERA (52er, 87.0ip) in 20 games (13 starts) for triple-A Fresno...was perfect 4-0 with 6.04 ERA in 4 July starts, but earned just 2 more decisions (both losses) over last 9 outings, working his way in and out of starting rotation before finally pitching out of bullpen for final 5 efforts.

Began year at triple-A Fresno in bullpen for 1st time, but logged trio of stints with SF ( July 3-19, Aug. 4-10 and Aug. 16-end of season)...was used in both starting and relief roles with Giants, going 0-4 with 4.24 ERA in 18 games (4 starts)...enjoyed success against lefthanded batters, yielding just .238 avg. (10-for-42) without home run...was unscored upon in 10 of 14 relief outings, with 2.18 ERA (5er, 20.2ip)...was touched for 6.41 ERA (14er, 19.2ip) in 4 starts, but had logged 3 solid opening assignments before yielding 8 runs in 4.1 innings Sept. 26 vs. Padres...made 1st career ML start Aug. 4 at San Diego, game in which Barry Bonds tied Hank Aaron with 755th career HR...held Friars to 2 runs over 5.0 innings...finished 2-5 with 1 save, 2.30 ERA and .227 avg. against (54-for-238) in 34 games (3 starts) with Grizzlies...compiled 74 strikeouts in 66.2 minor league innings.

Reached big leagues for 1st time...enjoyed best professional season, going 9-6 with 2.93 ERA in 28 games (27 starts) between double-A Connecticut and triple-A Fresno...established career high in wins and innings pitched (168.2), while matching standard for outings...began year in Eastern League, earning spot on in-season All-Star squad by posting 5-4 ledger with 2.26 ERA (26er, 103.2ip) in 18 games (17 starts) for Defenders...earned late-season promotion to Fresno, where he was 4-2 with 4.02 mark (29er, 65.0ip) in 10 starts...had contract purchased by SF Sept. 19...made big league debut Sept. 21 with scoreless inning of relief at Milwaukee (2h,1so)...fashioned 2.79 ERA (3er, 9.2ip) in 13 relief appearances with Scottsdale Scorpions in Arizona Fall League.
