Russ Moore Adams graduated from Scotland High School in Laurinburg, NC...Played baseball, football, basketball and golf...Named All-State and All-Conference as a senior in baseball...Was also named Conference Player of the Year his senior year after hitting .498...Was a two-time All-Conference and All-State selection as both a golfer and quarterback...Led the conference in passing yards his junior and senior years...Was an honor roll student and named a Pepsi Scholar Athlete...Attended the University of North Carolina...Was a First Team All-ACC second baseman in 2001...Was the cocaptain as a senior...Batted .344 with eight home runs, 115 RBI and 97 walks in 170 career college games...Named Top Professional Prospect of the Cape Cod League and the MVP of the 2001 Cape Cod League All-Star Game...Older brother, Frank, is a professional golfer...Younger brother, Stewart, was a linebacker at Appalachian State.
2010
Spent the entire season with Buffalo (AAA) of the International League and finished first on the team in doubles and extra-base hits (46), and tied for first in RBI and runs scored...Also finished second in games played, multi-hit games (27) and walks, and fourth in home runs and hits...Played primarily second base over the first two months of the season, but saw some action in the outfield during the final three months...Made a total of 21 starts in the outfield (four in leftfield, 17 in rightfield)...Hit .095 (7-74) against lefthanders...Hit .304 (94-309) with 42 of his 46 extra-base hits against righthanded pitching...Went 36-119 (.303) after the All-Star break...Hit 14 home runs in his final 69 games.
2009
Appeared in eight games with Toronto after his contract was selected from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League on June 21st...Singled as a pinchhitter that day at Washington in his first at-bat...Designated for assignment on July 3rd, cleared waivers three days later and elected free agency...Spent the remainder of the season with Portland (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League in San Diego's organization...Had six hits in 11 at-bats over a two-game span from August 19th-August 21st.
2008
Spent the entire season with Syracuse (AAA) of the International League...Led the Chiefs in both home runs and RBI...Appeared in 42 games at second base, 45 in rightfield, 26 in leftfield, one game at third base and 11 as the designated hitter...Had a season-high 16-game hit streak from July 31st-August 17th, batting .443 (27-61) with four home runs and 12 RBI over that span.
2007
On Aug. 17 was recalled by Toronto from Syracuse (AAA)...In 113 games with the Chiefs, batted .262 with 11 HR & 54 RBI...Made 102 starts at 2B, five starts at 3B & one start at SS...Was named the Organizational Defensive Player of the Month for June...With Toronto started 14 games at third base and two at second base...On Sept. 16 vs. BAL hit his 1st HR of the season & 1st since July 6, 2006 at TEX...In 27 games after his recall, on Aug. 17, batted .233 (14-60) with 2-HR, 12-RBI & 14-R in 27 games...A GRAND WEEK: On Sept. 19 vs. BOS, hit his first career grand slam, coming off Red Sox closer, Jonathan Papelbon in the 8th inning...The previous night, hit a game-winning two-run bases loaded double off Eric Gagne.
2006
Began the season at shortstop making 30 starts at the position... Made 10 errors at short (nine-throwing) in 150 chances... Made only two errors after first recall, in 148 chances...Hit .306 in the month of May (15-49, HR, 10RBI)...Was optioned to Syracuse of the International League (AAA) on May 24 to convert to second base... Was recalled by Toronto from Syracuse on June 12...Was optioned to Syracuse a second time on July 29, and was re-called Aug 23.
2005
In his first full season in the Major Leagues, batted .256 with eight home runs and 63 RBI in 139 games...Ranked in the top five in AL rookies in RBI (3rd, 63), multi-hit games (T3rd, 30), runs scored (3rd, 68), hits (4th, 123), total bases (5th, 184), doubles (5th, 27), triples (T3rd, 5), stolen bases (4th - 11), walks (2nd - 50) and extra base hits (4th, 40)... Also ranked among the top ten AL rookies with eight home runs (T7th), .325 on base percentage (6th) and a .383 slugging percentage (8th)...Tied for the Blue Jays lead with two multi-homer games, both coming against the Chicago White Sox... Had three hits, including two homers, drove in two runs and scored three times on May 7 vs. CWS... Collected a career high ten total bases in that game...Also had two home runs on Aug. 8 at CWS...Drew three base on balls on July 16 vs. TB, part of a string of six consecutive games in which he walked (eight walks in total during the streak)... Hit safely in a career high 11 consecutive games, including seven multi-hit efforts, between July 17 and Aug. 2.
2004
Had contract purchased on Sept. 3 and made his ML debut that night vs. OAK as a pinch hitter and recorded his first ML hit (single off Dotel)... Made first ML start (SS) on Sept. 5 vs. OAK and hit first ML home run (1R off Duchsherer), driving home three runs...Hit three home runs in his final 11 games, including first career pinch hit home run on Sept. 29 at BAL in game #1 of a DH (1R off Grimsley)...Led the Chiefs with 139 hits and 37 doubles... Selected to participate in the All-Star Futures Game but could not take part due to an injury...Ranked 16th on Baseball America's year-end list of the top 20 prospects in the International League.
2003
Began the season with Dunedin of the FSL (A) where he hit .279 three home runs, 16 RBI and a .380 OBP... Was named as the Blue Jays Minor League Player of the Month for April and a midseason All-Star in the Florida State League... Was promoted to New Haven of the Eastern League (AA) on June 19... Reached base safely in his first 20 games with the Ravens between June 19 and July 6... In the postseason batted .297 and scored a team-leading seven runs in eight games.
2002
Made his professional debut with Auburn (A) of the NY Penn State League... Led the team with a .354 average, a .469 slugging percentage and a .464 on-base percentage... Was the NY Penn League's Player of the Week from July 8-14 after hitting .583 with eight RBI and seven runs scored on 14 hits... Was named to the post season All-Star team... Was promoted to Dunedin (A) and made his debut in the Florida State League on July 20 going 2-4 with a walk... Hit first professional home run on August 8 vs. Charlotte, which was a grand slam.
