Rusty Allen Ryal...Attended Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City, Kan., before transferring to Oklahoma State...Graduated from Perry High School in Perry, Okla., in 2001...set then-school-records for runs and triples...His father Mark Ryal played outfield for 14 professional seasons, spending parts of 7 Major League seasons with the Royals (1982), White Sox (1985), Angels (1986-87), Phillies (1989) and Pirates (1990).

Played in 30 games with the Yomiuri Giants in the Japanese Central League, hitting .198 (19-for-96)...Signed by the D-Backs as a free agent on Nov. 16.

Combined to hit .277 (123-for-444) with 17 homers and 67 RBI in 117 games with Single-A Visalia and Mobile...Named California League Player of the Week for June 11-17.

Spent the entire season with Single-A Lancaster, hitting .277 (97-for-350) with 17 doubles, 6 triples, 11 home runs and 42 RBI in 97 games...On the disabled list from July 28-remainder of the season with fractured right thumb.

Made his professional debut with Rookie Missoula and batted .333 (98-for-294) with 6 homers and 46 RBI...Led the Pioneer League with a .953 fielding percentage (8 E in 171 TC) at third base.
