Made 2nd straight Opening Day roster, working out of Giants rotation before going on Disabled List April 10-May 9 with lower back strain...appeared in 4 games of relief following recall before being optioned to Fresno May 18...overall, owned 10.80 ERA (16er, 13.1ip) with Giants...despite ugly numbers, SF won both of his starts...remained with Grizzlies for remainder of year, going 1-10 with 5.30 ERA in 27 contests (18 starts)...was 1st season with losing ledger since going 5-8 for Grizzlies in 2000...marked 3rd time with double digits in defeats.

Split time between triple-A Fresno and Giants in 6th professional campaign, logging 3 different stints with SF...served as both 5th starter and as long reliever with Giants, logging 1-2 mark with 4.25 ERA in 10 big league outings (7 starts)...fared much better in starting role, forging 3.34 ERA (13er, 35.0ip) in his 7 starts...allowed runs in all 3 relief appearances for 8.59 ERA (7er, 7.1ip)...pitched in 20 games with Fresno (17 starts), leading Grizzlies staff in wins (11-2) and ERA (3.48)...win total was 4th best among all Giants farmhands, while ERA ranked 3rd...registered 95 strikeouts against just 34 walks in 106.0 innings...began year in Grizzlies' bullpen, but was inserted into rotation in mid-April...named Fresno's Player of Month for April after compiling 2-0 record with 1.71 ERA (4er, 21.0ip) in 5 games (2 starts)...was recalled to SF May 15 and made ML debut with start May 19 in Atlanta...received no decision in SF's eventual 6-3 triumph at Turner Field, working 5.2 innings and leaving with 2-2 tie following rain delay in middle of 6th...made 2 relief appearances before being optioned back to Fresno May 26...was brought back to SF July 12 and opened 2nd half of campaign in Giants' starting rotation...earned 1st ML victory July 25 at Colorado, limiting Rockies to 3 runs (2 earned) over 6.0 innings of 9-3 win while retiring 9 of final 11 batters faced...returned to triple-A July 29, but was recalled for good Aug. 26...made 3 starts following recall, posting 4.73 ERA (7er, 13.1ip) with 3 no decisions...however, SF won all 3 contests...returned to Giants' bullpen Sept. 19, working 2.0-relief innings in final outing of campaign...pitched for Bayamon in Puerto Rican Winter League, logging 2-2 mark with 1.95 ERA (8er, 27.0ip) in 8 starts.
2000
Spent 2nd full year at triple-A, leading Fresno with 26 starts...also paced Grizzlies staff with 135.1 innings, while tying for 2nd with 114 strikeouts...however, logged 2nd lowest win total of career, going 5-8 with 5.79 ERA...despite Fresno's Beiden Field being known as offensive park, posted 3-1 mark with 3.59 ERA (25er, 62.2ip) in 11 home starts...in 15 road starts, went 2-7 with 7.68 mark (62er, 72.2ip).
1999
Logged 1st full season at triple-A level, going 11-10 with 5.12 ERA in 27 starts for Fresno...finished 2nd on Grizzlies' staff in wins, starts, innings (156.1) and strikeouts (150)...in fact, his strikeouts were 2nd highest total in Giants' farm system, behind teammate Aaron Fultz' 151...marked 1st year in career that he worked solely as starter...was tabbed Howe SportsData Pitcher of Week for Pacific Coast League Aug. 30-Sept. 6...struck out 12 in Sept. 4 victory at Calgary, yielding 1 run over 7.0 innings...pitched for Aguilas in Dominican Winter League following regular season.
1998
Spent majority of year at single-A Bakersfield before moving up to Fresno to close out campaign...earned California League post season honorable mention...went 11-12 with 3.37 ERA for Blaze, making him only Bakersfield pitcher to earn more than 6 victories...ranked among Cal League leaders in wins (4th), losses (T2nd), ERA (5th), innings (168.1-2nd), strikeouts (164-3rd) and games started (27-4th)...paced Giants minor league system with 170 combined strikeouts, while finishing 3rd with 3.41 ERA...appeared in 2 games for Fresno in September, making 1 start...went 0-1 with 5.40 mark in 1 PCL playoff start.

Spent majority of campaign at rookie-league Salem-Keizer after making 1 start at Bakersfield...ranked among Northwest League leaders in wins (7-T3rd), starts (16-T1st) and home runs allowed (10-T1st)...finished 2nd on Volcanoes staff in wins behind Michael Riley's 9 victories.
