Scott Robert Cassidy...graduated from Liverpool (NY) High School in 1993...attended LeMoyne (NY) College, where he went 14-12 with a 3.44 ERA in his three-year career...left as the program's all-time leader with 18 complete games (in just 29 starts)...was the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's North Division Player of the Year as a junior in 1998.
2006
He finished the season with a 6-4 record and a 2.53 ERA in 42 appearances for the Padres. His six wins were second best among Padres relievers. Tossed 14 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings from April 8-June 2. Went 2-1 at home with a 2.38 ERA.

Signed by the Blue Jays as a non-drafted free agent May 21, he went 8-1 with a 2.43 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) for Rookie-Level Medicine Hat, earning Pioneer League post-season All-Star honors...ranked first in the league in wins, second in ERA and strikeouts (82), and fourth with 81.1 innings pitched...was Toronto's Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July, posting 5-0 record with a 0.97 ERA...named the league's Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 20-26, going 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA.

Posted a 3.27 ERA in 27 starts for the Blue Jays' Single-A Hagerstown affiliate, ranking second in the South Atlantic League with 13 wins, 178 strikeouts and 170.2 innings pitched...by fanning an organization-best 178 and walking only 30 in 170.2 innings, averaged 9.4 strikeouts and 1.6 walks per 9.0 innings...held opponents to a .236 batting average...had a six-game winning streak over seven games May 23-June 27...posted a 3.22 ERA (16 ER/44.2 IP) during the streak and a 2.33 ERA (20 ER/77.1 IP) over his next 12 starts through the end of the year, despite going just 5-4...worked at least 6.0 innings in 23 of 27 starts and at least 7.0 innings in 12... tossed a season-high 8.1 innings June 27 at Charleston (WV)...fanned 10 in the game, his second double-digit strikeout game of the year.

Went 9-3 with a 1.33 ERA in 14 games 913 starts) for Toronto's Single-A Dunedin club before earning a promotion to Double-A Tennessee...threw the minor leagues' fi rst no-hitter of the season while with Dunedin at Fort Myers, April 22...between the two stops, posted 11 wins and 128 strikeouts, both second-best in the organization...following losses in his fi rst two starts at Dunedin, went on an eight-game winning streak over nine starts April 17-May 28, including three straight performances of 7.0 shutout innings May 8-18...notched a 0.92 ERA (6 ER/59.0 IP) during the nine-game stretch...after going 6-0 with a 1.10 ERA (5 ER/41.0 IP) in May, was named Blue Jays' Minor League Pitcher of the Month as well as the Topps Player of the Month...lost his June 2 start at St. Petersburg, but allowed only two in his next outing June 7 at Charlotte, struck out 10 over 5.2 innings of relief June 12 vs. Sarasota and made the jump to Double-A Tennessee...went 2-2 with a 5.91 ERA in eight games for the Smokies, working at least 6.0 innings in five of his seven starts...missed all of August after learning he was diabetic...fanned 128 in 130.2 innings between Tennessee and Syracuse, an average of 8.8 strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched.

Ranked second in the Blue Jays' organization with both a 3.16 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 27 games with Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Syracuse.. started the year at Tennessee, where he went 6-6 with a 3.44 ERA in 16 games (15 starts) to earn Southern League All-Star honors...held opponents to a .218 average...tossed back-to-back shutouts May 22 vs. Greenville (three hits allowed) and May 27 vs. Carolina (a one-hitter)...earned Southern League Pitcher of the Week honors two weeks in a row for his efforts...after suffering a loss June 2, returned June 8 vs. Mobile to pitch another three-hit shutout.. following a win in game one of a July 1 doubleheader at Huntsville, earned a promotion to Syracuse, where he posted a 3-3 record with a 2.71 ERA in 11 starts...in his first career Triple-A start, surrendered one run on three hits in 5.0 innings July 7 at Toledo...made six quality starts, including July 31 at Ottawa when he beat the Lynx with 7.0 shutout innings.
2002
Spent nearly the entire year in the Toronto bullpen, appearing in 58 games to rank second among American League rookies... retired 44 of 58 fi rst batters faced (76 percent) and held opponents to a .222 average...right-handers hit .209 (29-for-139), and lefties batted .242 (23-for-95)...made his major league debut Opening Day (April 1) at Boston, walking four and striking out one in 1.2 shutout innings...made two more appearances before getting optioned to Triple-A Syracuse April 9...allowed four runs over 7.0 innings in a pair of starts for the SkyChiefs before being recalled by the Blue Jays April 20...struggled to a 9.31 ERA (10 ER/9.2 IP) in April, but went on to post a 3.18 ERA (4 ER/11.1 IP) in May and a 2.40 ERA (4 ER/15.0 IP) in June...was optioned to Syracuse May 4, appearing in one game in relief before again being recalled May 8...allowed only one hit in 6.1 scoreless innings over eight games May 10-27...yielded just one hit during a run of 8.1 scoreless innings over seven appearances June 16-29...picked up his first major league win September 11 at Cleveland, striking out one in 1.1 hitless innings.
2003
In his final full season in the Blue Jays organization, ranked second in the International league with 57 appearances while going 3-4 with four saves and a 3.24 ERA for Triple-A Syracuse...did not make at least one start in a season for the fi rst time in his career...averaged 8.4 strikeouts per 9.0 innings, fanning 75 in 80.2 innings...held opponents to a .253 average, including a .234 mark (26-for-111) by lefties...made 17 relief appearances of 2.0 innings or more, logging a 1.67 ERA (7ER/37.2 IP) in those games.
2004
Acquired by the Boston Red Sox on April 18 from the Blue Jays, Cassidy was assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket where he split time between the rotation and pen, fi nishing 5-3 with a team-best 3.46 ERA...was 3-0 with a save and a 4.82 ERA (15 ER/28.0 IP) in 16 relief appearances and 2-3 with a 2.73 ERA (16 ER/52.2 IP) in 12 starts...fanned 72 in 80.2 innings of work, an average of 8.03 strikeouts per 9.0 innings... after allowing 10 runs (nine earned) over 7.0 innings in April (11.57 ERA), posted a 2.25 ERA (6 ER/24.0 IP) in May, striking out 26 and limiting the opposition to a .175 batting average...missed a month after landing on the disabled list June 19 with tendinitis in his right knee...was activated July 21, and, after giving up three runs in 4.0 innings over two outings, went 4-1 with a 1.38 ERA (5 ER/32.2 IP) in nine games (six starts) the rest of the way, including 13.0 consecutive shutout innings in his final three games (two starts)...did not allow a home run in his last nine games after surrendering ten in his first 19 contests.
2005
Opened the year at Triple-A Pawtucket of the International League...split time between the starting rotation and bullpen...won his fi rst three decisions of the year at Pawtucket...tossed a season- high 5.0 innings on three occasions (three starts)...had a scoreless-inning streak of 7.0 innings from May 24-June 6... earned a call-up to the big leagues, making his first and only appearance with Boston on July 9 at Baltimore... allowed three runs on four hits in 0.2 inning...was traded to the Padres on July 19 for OF Adam Hyzdu and was assigned to Triple-A Portland...became the Beavers' closer and notched 11 saves, including 10 straight from August 8-September 2...posted a 1.89 ERA (4 ER/19.0 IP) while limiting opposing hitters to a .149 average... was recalled by the Padres on September 6 and made his Padres debut that night vs. Colorado, tossing a scoreless frame...made a total of 10 appearances for the Padres in 2005.
