Opened the season on the 15-day D.L. recovering from shoulder surgery on Aug. 1, 2006...missed the final 71 games of 2006 and first 36 games of 2007...Made 9 starts for the Royals, going 2-4 with a lofty 10.46 ERA (37 IP, 53 H, 43 ER)...allowed 12 home runs in the 37 innings...Went 2-3 with a 4.78 ERA in 5 total minor league rehab starts, allowing 14 earned runs and 29 hits in 26.1 innings, walking 11 and striking out 11...he made 2 trips to Wichita around 3 starts in Omaha, where he went 1-2 with a 5.60 ERA (17.2 IP, 20 H, 11 ER)...he was 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA in his 2 Wichita starts (8.2 IP, 9 H, 3 ER)...Recalled from his rehab assignment and reinstated from the 15-day D.L. on May 12 in time to make his 2007 debut at Chicago...tossed 5.0 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits in a no decision...Earned his 1st win since July 16, 2006 when he defeated the A's in Oakland on May 17...he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits in 5.1 innings in the 7-4 victory...Struggled mightily in his fi nal 3 games as a Royal, going 0-2 with a 25.58 ERA (6.1 IP, 18 ER)...Given his release on July 25 and his unconditional release on July 30.

Opened the season as Cleveland's 5th starter and went 11-9 with a 4.61 ERA in 31 starts...worked into the 6th inning in 25 of 31 starts, including 18 straight from April 24 through Aug. 7...Posted an ERA of 3.77 in June (31.0 IP, 29 H, 13 ER) and 3.58 ERA in July (37.2 IP, 31 H, 15 ER) before turning in a 7.31 ERA in August...Finished the months of Sept/Oct. with a 4-2 record and a 2.72 ERA in 6 games (36.1 IP, 34 H, 11 ER)...won 4 straight starts, Sept. 5-21, for the 1st time since winning 5 straight starts with Houston in June of 2000...Recorded his 1st win in his 7th start on May 17 vs. Los Angeles (5.2 IP, 9 H, 3 ER) for his 1st win since Aug. 29, 2004 vs. Chicago - a stretch of 12 starts without a win...Was 0-1 in 4 April starts with an 8.05 ERA (19.0 IP, 27 H, 17 ER)...Earned his 3rd straight victory in his start on June 8 against San Diego (6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER)...was his 1st road win in more than 4 years (last: 5/6/01 at MON)...Recorded his 4th career complete game and improved to 5-3 in his start on July 4 in the 1st game of a DH against Detroit (9.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 6 SO, HR)...Earned his 6th win in 7 decisions on July 9 at New York (7.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER)...Improved to 7-5 in his start on Aug. 2 against New York at Jacobs Field, a 6-5 win (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER)...became the 1st Indians pitcher since 2001 (Charles Nagy) to beat the Yankees twice in 1 season...Equalled a club record by allowing a home run in 10 straight starts from June 24 to Aug. 13 (Sonny Siebert, 1967)...Allowed a season-high 7 ER on Aug. 24 at Tampa Bay, a 13-3 loss (3.2 IP, 9 H)...Won 4 straight starts from Sept. 5-21 (at DET, vs. MIN, vs. KC, at CWS), posting 0.92 ERA (29.1 IP, 20 H, 3 ER), before losing his last 2 starts of the year vs. TB on Sept. 27 (5.0 IP, 10 H, 5 ER) and vs. Chicago on Oct. 2 (2.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R)...Allowed 32 homers, 4th most in the A.L...his fly ball ratio of 0.60 (290 GB, 485 FB) was the top mark in the league.

Split the season between Colorado and Cleveland, posting a combined 3-11 record and a 5.90 ERA (158.2 IP, 104 ER)...opened the year with the Rockies, going 0-6 with a 9.80 ERA in 8 starts before being released on May 17...Signed by the Indians on May 25 and posted a 3-5 record and a 4.53 ERA in 21 starts...Tied a Colorado franchise record for the worst start in club history after falling to 0-6 in his fi nal start on May 15 vs. Philadelphia (4.0 IP, 7 ER)...made 6 of his 8 starts with Colorado at Coors Field, where he was 0-4 with an 11.04 ERA in 6 starts (31.0 IP, 46 H, 38 ER)...Signed by Cleveland as a minor league free agent on May 25 and was assigned to Buffalo (AAA)...Went 1-1 with a 3.15 ERA in 3 starts (20.0 IP, 7 ER) for Buffalo, including a 4-hit, 9.0 inning, complete game shutout June 7 vs. Charlotte...Had contract purchased on June 12 for his 1st A.L. start vs. Cincinnati (ND, 5.0 IP, 4 H, 5 ER)...Did not get out of the 1st inning of his 3rd start with Cleveland on June 22 at Chicago (ND, 0.2 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 1 SO)...was his shortest start of 2004 and shortest since July 8, 2001 at KC (0.0 IP)...Notched his 1st win of the season in his 17th start on July 28 vs. Detroit (7.0 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO) to snap his 8-game losing streak...snapped a 17-start winless drought...was the 1st pitcher to go winless in his 1st 16 starts of a season since Oakland's Matt Keough 23-game stretch in 1979...Recorded 1st career complete game shutout on Aug. 29 vs. Chicago (season-high 9.0 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 SO)...marked his 3rd career complete game, 1st since Aug. 27, 2000 at Montreal, the low-hit CG of his career, and his 3rd overall win of the season to improve to 3-9 on the year...Was 3-3 with a 3.93 ERA over his last 14 starts (87.0 IP, 81 H, 38 ER)...worked into the 6th inning in 12 of the 14 starts...had a 4.12 ERA (91.2 IP, 42 ER) after the All-Star Break, compared to an 8.33 ERA in the first half (67.0 IP, 62 ER).

Returned after missing all of 2002 following right shoulder surgery to log 170.1 IP between the Rockies and Colorado Springs (AAA)...had 2 stints in the Majors, making 11 appearances for the Rockies...Began the year on a rehab assignment with the Sky Sox...was recalled from his rehab assignment, reinstated from the 15-day D.L. and optioned to Triple-A on April 30...started 9 games in the Pacific Coast League before being recalled by the Rockies on May 23...Took the mound on May 24 for his 1st M.L. start since Oct. 6, 2001...threw 5.2 shutout innings before allowing a 2-out, 3-run homer to San Francisco's Pedro Feliz that broke a scoreless tie...Beat the Dodgers a week later on May 27, his 1st victory in over 2 years (May 6, 2001)...allowed 3 runs over 5.0 innings to snap an 8-game losing streak covering 18 starts...Won 3 straight starts from May 27-June 8 for the 1st time since Aug. 16-27, 2000...optioned to Triple-A on June 27...rejoined Colorado as a September call-up on Sept. 5.

Underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder March 8 and missed the entire season...Dr. Richard Hawkins performed the operation at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo...during the procedure, Dr. Hawkins repaired a small portion of the labrum that was detached with suture anchors and also mildly tightened the shoulder capsule...placed on the 60-day D.L. March 12.
2001
Suffered a then career-high 10 losses in 24 starts between Colorado and Houston (4-10, 7.06 ERA)...went 4-8 with a 7.14 ERA (109.2 IP, 87 ER) with Houston in 20 starts and 0-2 with a 6.65 ERA (23.0 IP, 17 ER) in 4 starts for Colorado...Was acquired by Colorado from Houston, along with a player to be named (Garett Gentry) in exchange for RHP Pedro Astacio and cash considerations on July 31...was sent to Colorado Springs on Aug. 29 on a medical rehab assignment...was reinstated from his rehab and activated Sept. 4...Surrendered 34 home runs, tied for the 5th most in the National League...lost his last 7 decisions of the season from May 22-Oct. 6, a career long losing streak...Became the 1st Houston pitcher to win his 1st Opening Day start since Mike Scott in 1987, claiming an 11-3 win over Milwaukee on April 3...was the 1st Astros Opening Day starter other than Shane Reynolds since 1995...The day after his 20th start, July 17, he went on Houston's D.L. for right biceps tendinitis and was on the D.L. when the trade was completed to Colorado.
2000
Voted Astros Pitcher of the Year by the Houston chapter of the BBWAA, after going 17-7 with a 4.81 ERA in 30 starts...his 17 victories tied for 6th in the N.L. and his .708 winning percentage ranked 3rd... was Houston's only pitcher to record double digit victories...Started the year on the D.L. and made 3 rehab starts...got his 1st start of the year on April 23 vs. San Diego (no decision)...won 5 consecutive starts, June 22-July 16...after a July 21 loss to St. Louis, won a career-best 6 straight decisions covering 7 starts from July 26-Aug. 27...Threw a 4-hitter on Aug. 6 vs. Montreal, his 1st Major League complete game...earned Co-NL Player of the Week honors for the week of July 31-Aug. 6 (Will Clark) after going 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA...struck out a season-high 9 batters on Aug. 11 at Philadelphia.
1999
Began the year in Houston's bullpen before entering the starting rotation prior to the All-Star break...Was 4-2 with a 3.40 ERA (82.0 IP, 32 ER) as a starter...made his 1st start on July 3 at Cincinnati after having pitched the most innings (39.1) and making the most appearances (27) of any Astros reliever through the 1st 3 months of the season...Earned his 1st victory as a starter with a 10-4 win over the Cubs on Aug. 7...struck out a career-high 10 batters on Sept. 15 vs. Philadelphia...underwent surgery following the season on Oct. 21, 1999 to repair a stretched right rotator cuff (Dr. Bill Bryan).
1998
Made 14 starts at New Orleans (AAA) before being recalled by Houston on June 20...would remain with the Astros for the rest of the year...Made his first M.L. start on June 20 vs. Cincinnati in place of Mike Hampton (D.L.)...allowed 5 hits and 4 runs in 6.1 IP with 9 strikeouts and left with a lead that the bullpen failed to hold... Earned the 1st save of his professional career July 29 vs. Florida (3.0 IP, 0 ER)...Recorded 1st M.L. victory Aug. 10 vs. Milwaukee (1.0 IP, 0 H)...prior to Spring Training, pitched a nohitter in his final Winter League start for Santurce of the Puerto Rican Winter League, Dec. 14 against Caguas.
