2024

Signed a Minor League contract with the Pirates and received an invite to Major League camp...Started the year with Triple-A Indianapolis and appeared in just 11 games with the Indians before being traded to Arizona on April 23 in exchange for cash...The trade marked Alcántara’s fifth career stint with the Diamondbacks organization...Appeared in 112 games with Triple-A Reno and hit .279 with 20 doubles, seven triples, eight homers, 57 RBI and 70 runs scored...His seven triples were tied for fifth-most across all Triple-A, while his 78 walks ranked seventh...Played winter ball for the Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Winter League...Slashed .278/.379/.424 with 10 doubles, a triple, three homers, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored in 40 games...Also appeared in 21 postseason games with the Tigres...Won his fourth career Guante de Oro in the DWL at shortstop. He also took home the award during the 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 Dominican Winter League seasons...Signed a Minor League deal with SF on Nov. 18...The Giants are his fifth different organization since 2022.

2023

Attended Spring Training as a non-roster invitee with Chicago (NL)…Hit a combined .268 (90-for-336) with 17 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 51 RBI, .374 OBP, .402 slugging percentage and .776 OPS in 98 games between Iowa (Cubs’ Triple-A) and Reno (Diamondbacks’ Triple-A)…Began the year with Iowa, where he hit .324 (22-for-68) with five doubles, a triple, three home runs, 18 RBI and a .944 OPS through the end of April…Knocked in nine runs in a five-game stretch from 4/25-30…Played in his final game with Iowa on 7/22 before being released on 7/24…Was signed by Arizona as a Minor League free agent on Aug. 1 and assigned to Reno…Went 13- for-29 (.448) with two doubles, triple, home run and eight RBI in his final eight games of the season. 

2022

Sergio split 2022 between the Diamondbacks and Padres, combining to appear in 93 games and hit .220 (45-for-205) with eight doubles, a triple, six homers and 29 RBI... Signed a Major League deal with the Cubs March 19 and was traded to Arizona for cash March 27... Claimed off waivers by San Diego May 9...claimed off waivers by Arizona July 5 and spent the rest of the season on he big league roster... Hit .265 (31-for-117) with six doubles, five homers and 19 RBI in 48 games from July 7 through season's end.

2021

Spent most of the season with the Cubs, hitting .205 (45- for-220) with six doubles, three triples, five home runs and 17 RBI in 89 games…also played 25 games with Triple-A Iowa... Played 55 games (44 starts) at shortstop, 22 (18) at second base and three (2) at third... Hit his first career pinch-hit homer Sept. 24 vs. Cardinals [GM 1] (off Alex Reyes)…made his first career pitching appearance in Game 2 of the doubleheader, retiring the lone batter faced (Tyler O'Neill).

2020

Made his Major League debut on Sept. 6 at Minnesota...Alcántara homered in his first big league at-bat, lining a solo shot off LHP Rich Hill.

2019

Completed his second season with Double A Erie in 2019, playing in 102 games...Went a perfect 4x4, including a double, and scored five runs on April 7 vs. Trenton...Appeared in 22 games during June, hitting .333/.458/.394 with four doubles and six RBI...Sidelined from August 16-September 6 with a left hamstring strain...Hit .286/.375/.357 with one double in four games with Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Winter League...Rated as possessing the best infield arm in the Tigers organization by Baseball America following the season.

2018

Spent the entire 2018 season with Double A Erie, appearing in 120 games...Finished the month of April batting .308/.329/.372 with 10 runs scored, three doubles, one triple and six RBI in 20 games...Posted an 11-game hitting streak from June 25-July 6, batting .326/.392/.435 with six runs scored, three doubles, one triple and four RBI...Had a four-hit game and drove in two runs on July 13 vs. Altoona...Hit .311/.377/.398 with 14 runs scored, four doubles, one triple, one home run and nine RBI in 27 games in July...Played in 30 games with Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Winter League, hitting .213/.293/.258 with six runs scored, four doubles and five RBI.

2017

Began the 2017 season in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, before being acquired by the Tigers on July 18...Named to the California League Midseason All-Star Team...Ranked fifth in the California League with 6.63 plate appearances per strikeout... Hit safely in 12 straight games from June 8-23...batted .354 (17x48) with eight runs scored, three doubles, one home run and six RBI during the streak...Finished the month of June with a .300 (30x100) batting average, 17 runs scored, eight doubles, one home run and 10 RBI in 24 games...Rated as the best defensive infielder in the Tigers organization by Baseball America following the season...Played in 33 games with Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Winter League, hitting .255 (27x106) with 15 runs scored, two doubles and seven RBI.
