Arizona Diamondbacks President & CEO Derrick Hall will receive the prestigious Alumni Achievement Award from his alma mater, Arizona State University, at tonight's Founders' Day ceremony. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will take place in the Frank Lloyd Wright Ballroom at The Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa.

Hall is the first person in school history to receive both the ASU Alumni Association's Young Alumni Achievement of the Year Award and the Founders' Day Alumni Achievement honor. He received the former in 2003, one year after being inducted into the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism's Hall of Fame. He also received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the W.P. Carey School of Business in 2012 and was the keynote speaker at the Cronkite School's convocation in 2008, becoming the first Cronkite alum to deliver the school's commencement speech.

"I am truly humbled to receive such a meaningful honor from ASU because the school is so close to my heart," said Hall, who was named Arizona State University's "Man of the Year" in 1991. "So much of who I am today comes from my formative years at ASU, which is also when I met my wife. I am extremely grateful to the university for this incredible honor."

Considered by many to be among the leaders of the game, Hall has turned the D-backs into a model franchise within the sports industry and throughout the business world during his 10 years at the helm of the club. He focuses the organization's efforts in five areas he has called the "Circle of Success" - fan experience, performance, community, culture and financial efficiency - each of which has seen tremendous growth during his tenure.

Hall received his bachelor's degree in broadcasting and journalism from ASU in 1991and a master's degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University.

Tonight's event will honor distinguished faculty, alumni and university supporters, as the honorees have contributed to the school's 130-year tradition of growth, innovation and excellence, as well as the evolution of ASU as the New American University. Others who will be honored tonight include faculty members Dr. Charles Arntzen, Dr. Josephine Peyton Marsh and Dr. Wendy Hultsman. The Young Alumni Achievement Award will be given to SEED SPOT Co-Founder and CEO Courtney Klein and Philanthropists of the Year honors will be given to Cindy and Mike Watts.
