The Texas Rangers today announced that former club standout Michael Young will take the first at bat in Saturday's Swing for Your Seats event at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
The Swing for Your Seats event will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Fans who place a 25% deposit on a full or half season 2016 Rangers ticket plan will have the opportunity to take three swings to try to hit a home run out of Globe Life Park. If they are successful, that season ticket plan is free for the upcoming season (up to $10,000 per account).
Young, who saw action in a club record 1823 games from 2000-12, retired after playing with the Phillies and Dodgers in 2013 and is now the Rangers' Special Assistant to the General Manager. The five-time Rangers Player of the Year hit 185 homers in his big league career with a high of 24 in 2005.
Fans interested in attending can park in Lot B and enter Globe Life Park through the Hall of Fame entrance on Randol Mill Road. The deposit made is by price scale and all plans must be paid in full by March 4 if there is no home run. Batters will take their swings off a pitching machine from home plate and must be the account holders. All batters will be announced by the Voice of Globe Life Park Chuck Morgan.
