The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels completed a trade today, as the Braves sent right-handed pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to the Angels in exchange for minor league left-handed pitcher Adam McCreery.
McCreery, 23, is in his third professional season with the Angels and is currently in extended spring training. He pitched the last two years (2014-15) for Rookie-level Tempe in the Arizona League and posted a 3.52 ERA in 31 appearances (all out of the bullpen) with 49 strikeouts and a .169 opponents' batting average in 38.1 innings pitched. In 2015, left-handed batters went just 2-for-16 against him with nine strikeouts.
The 6-foot-8 lefty is a native of La Verne, Calif., and was selected in the 22nd round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Azusa Pacific University.
Chacin, 28, was in his first season with the Braves and made five starts (26.2 IP), going 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA. He was scheduled to start tonight's game against Philadelphia and a counter move for his roster spot will be announced this afternoon.
