The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has placed left-handed pitcher Derek Holland on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 21, with left shoulder inflammation. To take his place on the active roster, the team has recalled right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson (#77) from Triple-A Round Rock.
 
Holland has a 5-5 record with a 5.20 ERA (42 ER/72.2 IP) in 14 games/starts for the Rangers this season, including taking a no decision in his last start on Monday against Baltimore. The first date he would be eligible to return from the disabled list is July 6.
 
Jackson will be in his second stint with Texas this season, as he allowed 6 runs over 7.2 innings spanning 5 appearances for the Rangers from May 16-June 8. He last pitched for the Rangers on June 8 vs. Houston. He has spent the balance of the season with Round Rock, going 1-0 with 2 saves and a 2.45 ERA (6 ER/22.0 IP) and 27 strikeouts in 16 relief outings. He earned the win in his last appearance on Sunday at Nashville (2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R-0 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO, 56 pitches/35 strikes).
 
The Rangers are still at the 40-player limit on the team's major league roster.
