A's recall IF Nuñez and select 1B/OF Olson from Nashville

The Oakland A's recalled infielder Renato Nuñez and selected first baseman/outfielder Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Nuñez batted .228 with 23 home runs and 75 RBI in 128 regular season games with Nashville and then went 5-for-21 (.238) with three home runs and 10 RBI in five postseason games for the Sounds. His 23 regular season home runs tied for sixth in the Pacific Coast League and he also tied for 10th in RBI. The 22-year-old right-handed hitter appeared in 89 games at third base and 12 in left field. A native of Venezuela, Nuñez was signed as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2010 and is a .265 hitter with 98 home runs and 387 RBI in 568 games in six seasons in the minors.
Olson hit .235 with 34 doubles, one triple, 17 home runs, 60 RBI and 71 walks in 131 games with Nashville. He tied for third in the PCL in doubles, ranked fifth in walks, tied for sixth in extra base hits (52) and ninth in strikeouts (132). The 22-year-old left-handed hitter appeared in 81 games in right field and 49 at first base. Olson also hit .263 with four walks, a home run and three RBI in five postseason games for the Sounds. He was originally selected by the A's as a compensation pick following the first round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft and is a .246 career hitter with 103 home runs and 370 RBI in 586 games in five seasons in the majors. Olson also has 384 walks for a .364 on-base percentage.
