Tigers select Daniel Stumpf from Kansas City Royals

The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has selected lefthanded pitcher Daniel Stumpf from the Kansas City Royals in the major league phase of the Rule 5 Draft.

DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has selected lefthanded pitcher Daniel Stumpf from the Kansas City Royals in the major league phase of the Rule 5 Draft.
Stumpf, 25, pitched with both the Philadelphia Phillies and Kansas City Royals in 2016, appearing in 21 games between Single A Clearwater, Double A Reading, Double A Northwest Arkansas and Triple A Lehigh Valley. Stumpf posted a 3-0 record with one save, a 3.34 ERA (29.2IP/11ER) and 31 strikeouts. Stumpf also appeared in seven games at the major league level for the Phillies and had a 10.80 ERA (5.0IP/6ER) with two strikeouts.
Stumpf is currently pitching for Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League and has a 1-0 record with a 1.69 ERA (10.2IP/2ER) and seven strikeouts in 15 appearances.
In seven minor league seasons, Stumpf has compiled a 23-23 record with 11 saves, a 3.22 ERA (341.0IP/122ER) and 337 strikeouts in 139 appearances, including 34 starts.
