Major League Baseball released the master schedule for the 2018 season today.
The 2018 season will mark just the second time in franchise history that the Astros will open a season versus the Texas Rangers, and the first time the Astros will take on the Baltimore Orioles in a home season opener. Houston has won on Opening Day in five straight seasons, including this season at home vs. the Seattle Mariners (3-0 win on April 3).
As always, the 2018 home schedule will be highlighted by several promotional events, crowd-favorite giveaway items and several popular opponents, which will include a four-game, weekday series against the New York Yankees (April 30 - May 3) and a four-game, weekend series against the Boston Red Sox (May 31 - June 3).
Once again, the Astros will take on their division and in-state rival Texas Rangers nine times at Minute Maid Park in 2018 as the Lone Star Series continues. The first of three home series vs. the Rangers will be a three-game set, April 13-15. The other two series will also be three-game weekend sets, May 11-13 and July 27-29.
Interleague Play will include matchups vs. all five NL West clubs, four of which will be at home. The Astros face off against the San Francisco Giants (May 22-23) and Colorado Rockies (August 14-15) in home-and-away series. The Astros once again play their National League "natural rival," the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a three-game, weekend series, Sept. 14-16.
