Mets DFA Robles, place Ramos on 60-day DL

The New York Mets today selected the contract of RHP Drew Smith from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and selected the contract of the outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski from Las Vegas (AAA). Following yesterday's game at Colorado, the Mets optioned RHP Paul Sewald and RHP Chris Flexen to Las Vegas (AAA). To make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated RHP Hansel Robles for assignment and transferred RHP A.J. Ramos to the 60-Day Disabled List.

The New York Mets today selected the contract of RHP Drew Smith from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and selected the contract of the outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski from Las Vegas (AAA). Smith will wear #62 and Kaczmarski will wear #16. Smith and Kaczmarski will each make their major league debut with their first appearance. Smith, 24, was 4-1 with three saves and a 2.88 ERA (11 earned runs/34.1 innings) in 23 combined games with Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and Las Vegas (AAA) this year. He was 4-1 with a 3.00 ERA (10 earned runs/30.0 innings) in 21 games with Las Vegas. The 6-2, 190-pounder has 34 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
Smith was acquired from Tampa Bay last year on July 27 in exchange for first baseman Lucas Duda. He is 12-7 with 16 saves and a 2.02 ERA (39 earned runs/174.0 innings) in 113 career minor league games. He has racked up 191 strikeouts during those 174.0 innings.
Kaczmarski, 26, was hitting .346 (37-107) with three doubles, two triples, 11 RBI and a .416 on-base percentage in 33 combined games between St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League and Las Vegas (AAA) this season. He missed time this season while recovering from hernia surgery.
He has hit .299 (368-1,229) with 68 doubles, 22 triples, 11 homers, 143 RBI and a .380 on-base percentage during minor league career. The 6-0, 194-pounder was the Mets ninth-round draft pick in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft.
