The Chicago Cubs today activated third baseman Kris Bryant off of the 10-day disabled list. Infielder David Bote has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
Bryant will make the start at third base today as the Cubs conclude their three-game series against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park.
Bryant was placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 26 (retroactive to June 23) with left shoulder inflammation, his first-career stint on the disabled list. He played in two rehab games with Double-A Tennessee the last two days as part of his return, going 2-for-6 (.333) with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. With the Cubs this season, Bryant is batting .280 (74-for-264) with 20 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 36 RBI in 66 games. He has a .383 on-base percentage and a .481 slugging percentage, good for an .864 OPS.
Bote, 25, has batted .300 (12-for-40) with one homer and nine RBI in 19 games with the Cubs this season. With Iowa, he is batting .268 (56-for-209) with 12 homers and 38 RBI in 54 games.
