105-year-old Cubs fan revels in World Series win

"I am proud of my Cubs, and I am proudly wearing my championship hats and shirt," said Ray Styrlund.

Sometimes the best things in life come at the age of 105.
Take Ray Styrlund. MLB.com introduced you to this Cubs superfan immediately after his favorite team finally won the National League pennant, and from then on it has been a steady stream of media interviews, even a visit by state representative Cheri Bustos to his assisted living facility in East Moline, Ill.
"I need to get an agent," said Styrlund, decked out in World Series gear.

"I am upright, and they won the World Series," Styrlund said. "I have had lots of calls about the Cubs winning. My daughter from California and other family members called to tell me they were happy for me. Relief is what I feel. I'm glad I lived to see it. ... I am proud of my Cubs, and I am proudly wearing my championship hats and shirt."
He gets around with his walker as much as he is able, and he loves the comfy chair in which he sits to listen to Cubs games. The night of the World Series clincher, he said during the game: "This is it -- they are starting out good."

The next morning, Styrlund awakened to a day unlike any other in his life. had doubled in the top of the 10th. The Cubs had sprayed champagne. Styrlund, who had lived near Wrigley Field and recalled the days of the 1938 Cubs World Series team, was now a fan of a World Series champion for the first time.
Styrlund was not able to get over to the three historic games at Wrigley Field, nor did he mess with all that parade traffic a few hours away. But he certainly celebrated, and he sent back these pics, representing so many of those golden-age Cubs fans.
