These are some of the things we've seen during the Padres' first 10 games of the season. And the credit usually goes to the players and the base coaches -- Johnny Washington at first and Glenn Hoffman at third.     
But Padres manager Andy Green believes the credit should be shared by the likes of Tony Tarasco and other coaches who work during Spring Training on the backfields in Peoria, Ariz.    
Tarasco is the Padres' Minor League coordinator for outfield play, baserunning and performance. And he's worked with the likes of Margot on looking to take the extra base as a runner.
"The success of Margot turning a single into a double is something that is preached, pushed, valued and rewarded on the backfields during spring training and throughout the season," Green recently observed.     
"Watching that happen, it's an organizational thing … turning singles into doubles, taking the extra base. Our minor league coaches take such pride in developing these skills. It is valued throughout the organization."
"Is it a small thing, sure. But in the long term, it is huge."
GAME NOTES
• The Padres will have a decision to make when Hector Sanchez is ready to return from the seven-day disabled list for concussions.
Do they return to keeping four catchers? Does the Christian Bethancourt catcher-pitcher-outfielder hybrid mix continue? Does Jabari Blash return to Triple-A El Paso, leaving the Padres with three outfielders? Or do they look elsewhere to make a move? With Rule 5 Draft infield prospect Allen Córdoba showing more each day that he belongs in the Major Leagues, might the Padres move Luis Sardiñas?
• RHP Carter Capps made his second rehab appearance for Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore on Thursday night and allowed a walk with a strikeout in one inning. The plan is for Capps, who had Tommy John surgery in March of 2016, to advance his rehab assignment to Triple-A El Paso
• Jankowski is hitting only .148 (4-for-27) after 10 games with no extra-base hits and no multi-hit games. But he has drawn five walks for a .281 on-base percentage. He has also scored six runs.
• Erick Aybar (.192) is 2-for-21 after a 3-for-5 start with two doubles. Aybar has yet to score or drive in a run. He also hasn't committed an error.
