Escobar exits vs. Astros with wrist injury

May 29th, 2016

ANAHEIM -- Angels third baseman Yunel Escobar left in the third inning of Sunday's 8-6 loss to the Astros with an injury to his left wrist.
Escobar moved to his left to field a hard-hit ground ball from Houston's Jake Marisnick to lead off the inning, but the ball ricocheted off his wrist area and skidded away for a base hit. After consulting with trainers, Escobar was removed from the game. He was later diagnosed with a left wrist contusion and is day to day.
Kaleb Cowart moved from first base to third base, and C.J. Cron came to in to play first and take Escobar's spot in the lineup. Escobar was 0-for-1 at the plate.
This is the second consecutive game that Escobar has left early. Escobar was ejected in the sixth inning of Saturday's game for arguing a strike call.
