"They put me on the spot," Rizzo said. "I wasn't prepared -- totally unprepared. That's what this camp is about -- be ready to do something."

Rizzo warmed up by playing a "Heart and Soul" duet with teammate Kris Bryant, then played a little of "Hello" by Adele and also "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. His teammates sang along.

Tuesday's game didn't go quite as smoothly. Rizzo got awkwardly tangled up with the Athletics' Andrew Lambo at first base in the fourth inning, and Rizzo was lifted from the game defensively in the next inning. However, Rizzo said he was fine and that the Cubs had planned on having him exit the game at that point.

"It was just a play at first," Rizzo said. "I was seriously coming out of the game then, no matter what."

After the game, Rizzo headed over to see his piano teacher to say goodbye. The Cubs will play their last Cactus League game against the Rockies on Wednesday at Sloan Park.
