GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Oakland A's traveled far and wide across the Valley of the Sun on Friday. It was a fitting journey for Major League Baseball's Snapchat Day, giving the team plenty of opportunities to engage fans during an afternoon of Spring Training in the Cactus League.
From the beginning of the day at the team's Spring Training complex at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz., and all the way northwest to Goodyear Ballpark, where Oakland beat the Cincinnati Reds, 9-4, the team had fun documenting its daily activities via the popular video-and-messaging app and sharing it on social media.
Fuld takes charge with bat and speed in win
It started in the morning, when outfielder Josh Reddick invited fans to watch him take batting practice. It continued with good-natured clubhouse ribbing in the form of Reddick pointing out that teammate Coco Crisp had shown up in Goodyear for a road game with the wrong color of pants. Crisp's were white, they were supposed to be gray and that was enough for Reddick to point it out to anyone interested on the Internet.

Meanwhile, Josh Phegley and third-base coach Ron Washington got cozy for a very team-oriented pose during batting practice.
And while starting pitchers usually don't talk to the media right before a start, Friday's starter, Chris Bassitt, was more than happy to let himself be filmed while walking off the mound and with a cartoon filter later in the locker room.

Oakland manager Bob Melvin said he liked the fact that fans can get these priceless behind-the-scenes moments with their A's before the regular season starts.

"If MLB approves it, we're fine with it," Melvin said. "If ever there's a time to do it, it's now."
