The Oakland A's today recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Smith from Triple-A Nashville and optioned infielder/outfielder Matt Olson to Nashville.

The Oakland A's today recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Smith from Triple-A Nashville and optioned infielder/outfielder Matt Olson to Nashville.
Smith joins the A's for his second stint this season. He was originally selected from Nashville on May 3 and appeared in 18 games for the A's without recording a decision. He posted a 6.75 ERA in 24.0 innings, striking out 15 and walking 12. He allowed just one earned run over his first eight innings but 17 over his last 16 frames, before being optioned to Nashville on July 1. In 14 games over two stints with the Sounds, he is 4-1 with a 3.62 ERA.
Olson appeared in two games as a pinch hitter during his most recent stint with the A's, including a pinch-hit single Sunday afternoon against Fernando Salas.
