Astros Celebration of Legends Weekend Begins Tomorrow, August 5

On Friday, the Astros kick off the celebration of Legends Weekend, presented by Houston Methodist, and begin a three-game series vs. the in-state, AL West rival Texas Rangers. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Astros remarkable 1986 season which featured a postseason appearance and "The Greatest Game Ever Played," as well as the franchise's first Cy Young Award winner, Mike Scott.

On Friday, the Astros kick off the celebration of Legends Weekend, presented by Houston Methodist, and begin a three-game series vs. the in-state, AL West rival Texas Rangers. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Astros remarkable 1986 season which featured a postseason appearance and "The Greatest Game Ever Played," as well as the franchise's first Cy Young Award winner, Mike Scott.
Several of the 1986 Legends, including Mike Scott, Phil Garner, Glenn Davis and Nolan Ryan, will be available to the media from 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. in Union Station Lobby. Players and timing subject to change.
Friday, August 5 - 7:10 p.m. vs. Texas Rangers
Legends Weekend, presented by Houston Methodist begins this Friday, August 5! In honor of both the 1986 NL Cy Young Award winner Mike Scott and the 2015 AL Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel, 10,000 fans will receive a "How Do You Measure Up To A Cy Young Winner" Growth Chart, courtesy of Houston Methodist, prior to Friday's 7:10 p.m. game vs. the AL division rival Texas Rangers. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the ballpark early to receive this weekend's promotional giveaways, as supplies are limited and not guaranteed.
Astros legend and former RHP J.R. Richard will be signing copies of his book Still Throwing Heat on Friday, August 5 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Season Ticket Holder Headquarters, located behind Home Plate. Books are available for purchase at the Astros Home Plate Team Store.
The Astros and the Astros Foundation are hosting approximately 1,300 soldiers and their families for a special uncasing ceremony celebrating the return of Texas Army National Guard's 136th Expeditionary Signal Battalion. Last July, the Astros held the deployment ceremony for this unit before they departed for training and deployed to Kuwait and six other countries. Prior to the on-field uncasing ceremony, the Houston-based signal battalion will process down Crawford Street and onto the field. Members of the 136th ESB will also sing the National Anthem and God Bless America. Friday night's game vs. the Texas Rangers will air overseas on the American Forces Network (AFN).
Additionally, Friday is Chevy Military Night at the ballpark. Approximately 100 volunteers from the USO comprised of uniformed military personnel as well as family members of active duty military will participate in a pregame ceremony featuring a giant American flag prior to Friday's 7:10 p.m. game.
Big and Bright Friday Night fireworks return postgame, featuring an 80's musical theme in honor of Legends Weekend and the celebration of the 1986 team. Fireworks will begin approximately 15 minutes following the conclusion of Friday's game vs. the Rangers.
Keuchel's Korner, presented by Houston Methodist, is back on Friday as well as Dallas Keuchel takes on the Texas Rangers at 7:10 p.m. Tickets for the dedicated fan section, located in sections 105 and 106, include a signature Dallas Keuchel beard giveaway and an exclusive Keuchel's Korner T-shirt. The T-shirt for Friday's Keuchel's Korner will feature a new design for fans to enjoy. For tickets and more information, please visit www.astros.com/keuchelskorner.
Continuing this Friday, the Astros Foundation will be raffling off a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle, donated by Crane Freight Services. Proceeds will benefit the Sunshine Kids Foundation, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance, Ronald McDonald House Houston and the Astros Foundation. Tickets will be sold during every Friday, Saturday and Sunday home game, now through September 11 on the main concourse behind home plate. Tickets are one (1) for $20 or six (6) for $100. The winner will be announced at the game on Monday, September 12 vs. the Texas Rangers (winner need not be present to win).
Saturday, August 6 - 6:10 p.m. vs. Texas Rangers
The Astros continue their celebration of Legends Weekend, presented by Houston Methodist, on Saturday with a 1986 Throwback Game. The 2016 Astros will wear throwback 1986 Astros uniforms as they take on the Rangers, who will also wear throwback uniforms. Fans are encouraged to join the fun by dressing up in their favorite 80's-inspired outfits!
Prior to that night's 6:10 p.m. game, 1986 Cy Young Award winner Mike Scott and 2015 Cy Young Award winner Dallas Keuchel will participate in a special pregame ceremony. The Cy Young Awards will then be on display and available to fans for a photo opportunity beginning when gates open through the end of the 5th inning in the Atrium. The photo opportunity is free and open to fans in attendance on Saturday.
Additionally, 10,000 fans will receive a Mike Scott 1986 Replica Rainbow Jersey, courtesy of Houston Methodist.
Fans are also invited to a special, FREE Legends Weekend Autograph Session, featuring members of the 1986 Astros club including Glenn Davis, Phil Garner and Mike Scott, as well as other Astros legends. The hour-long autograph session will take place in Union Station Lobby at 4:30 p.m. and is free to fans in attendance on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early as autographs are not guaranteed. All players and coaches subject to change.
Prior to Saturday's 6:10 p.m. game, infielder Luis Valbuena will be signing autographs at no charge and interacting with fans beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Texas Bay Credit Union, located at 12611 Fuqua St. in Houston, TX. He will be joined by Astros mascot Orbit. Autographs will be limited to the first 225 guests to arrive and player is subject to change.
The Astros will host the third and final Astros After Party, presented by Budweiser. The Astros After Parties take place in the FiveSeven Grille just beyond Center Field, and feature drink and appetizer specials starting in the 8th inning with trivia, prizes and live music immediately following the final out. This event is free to fans with a ticket to the game and will last for one hour after the conclusion of the game.
