Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Derek Fisher (Astros' No. 4), Fresno at Albuquerque (9:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Fisher, MLB Pipeline's No. 72 overall prospect, started slowly, hitting .254 with three homers over his first 17 games for Triple-A Fresno. Since then, however, the 23-year-old outfielder has been one of the hotter hitters in the Minors, with a .362/.418/.667 slash line, 13 homers, 15 doubles and 10 steals in his last 42 contests. Overall, he's hitting .333/.401/.608 with 16 homers (and 34 extra-base hits) through 59 contests.
Pitcher to watch: Beau Burrows (Tigers' No. 3), Erie vs. Binghamton (7:05 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
In his last outing, his Double-A Erie debut, Burrows tossed five strong innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and picked up the win. The 20-year-old righty issued four walks and struck out five, throwing 57 of his 87 pitches for strikes. Despite having graduated to Double-A, Burrows is still the Florida State League's qualified leader in ERA (1.23) and WHIP (0.95), which he posted over 11 starts totaling 58 2/3 innings for Class A Advanced Lakeland.
Duel of the day: Luis Castillo (Reds' No. 5) vs. Luiz Gohara (Braves' No. 10), Pensacola vs. Mississippi (7:35 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Castillo has permitted more than two earned runs just twice in 12 starts for Double-A Pensacola. Acquired from Miami in January as part of the Dan Straily trade, the hard-throwing 24-year-old righty owns a 3.00 ERA on the season, with a 63-to-11 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 66 innings.
Gohara piled up seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits over five scoreless innings in a no-decision against Biloxi in his most recent start, his third since being promoted to Double-A Mississippi from Class A Advanced Florida. The 20-year-old Brazilian left-hander has fared well in the Southern League thus far, posting a 2.08 ERA with 14 strikeouts and .236 opponents' average in 11 1/3 innings.
