Marwin day to day with oblique tightness

June 25th, 2017

SEATTLE -- Astros infielder/outfielder is day to day after he was scratched from the Astros' starting lineup about 45 minutes prior to Saturday's 5-2 win over the Mariners with a right oblique tightness. Yuli Gurriel replaced him in the lineup at first base, batting seventh.
Astros manager A.J. Hinch said Gonzalez felt tender during batting practice with soreness in his side.
"It was a pretty easy decision to scratch him," he said. "We had to rally Yuli a little bit at the end. He thought he had the day off, but he ended up swinging the bat pretty well."
Gurriel went 2-fo-4 with a double, snapping an 0-for-17 streak with a single in the second inning. He's hitting .326 on the road this year with 17 runs scored 10 doubles and three homers.
Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI on Friday to raise his average to .318. He's already tied his career high with 13 homers, to go along with 41 RBIs. He led the club in OPS (.998) entering Saturday's game. Gonzalez has started 20 games in left field, 18 games at first base, 14 games at third base, eight games at second base, four games at shortstop and two games in right field.
