Astros to place Gurriel on paternity list

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Astros will place first baseman Yuli Gurriel on the paternity list Thursday and recall first baseman AJ Reed from Triple-A Fresno. Gurriel can remain on the paternity list for up to 72 hours.
Gurriel is hitting .298 with four homers, 37 RBIs and a .323 on-base percentage in 265 at-bats, including .358 with a .386 on-base percentage in his past 67 at-bats. He leads the Major Leagues with a .422 batting average with runners in scoring position.
Reed, who appeared in only six games with the Astros last season, is hitting .266 with 18 homers and 67 RBIs in 73 games at Fresno. He hit 34 homers and drove in 104 runs last year with the Grizzlies after hitting .164 with 122 at-bats with the Astros in his debut in 2016.
