The Atlanta Braves, Kroger and the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer are teaming up for the 10th annual Atlanta Braves Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday, October 1.
The day-long celebration of survivorship honors those who have courageously battled breast cancer, and raises awareness and funds to support research, education and advocacy for cancer patients and their families.
On Saturday, October 1, there will be a Pink Wall in Monument Grove that fans can sign in honor of loved ones and 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a pink tomahawk. Stations will also be set up inside each gate where fans can fill out "I Go Pink For" placards and hold them up in the stands during a special pregame ceremony to show support for someone affected by breast cancer. Participants can also use #strikeoutcancer on social media to share photos with the placards. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the 7:10 p.m. matchup against the Detroit Tigers.
Survivors will receive a complimentary ticket, a commemorative t-shirt, access to a pregame reception and the opportunity to participate in "A Walk in the Park," a special on-field ceremony. During the pregame reception, the annual Diamond of Hope Awards will be presented to inspirational breast cancer survivors who have engaged in the fight against breast cancer or assisted other survivors through their difficult struggle. Nominations for the Diamond of Hope Award will be accepted until September 26, and can be submitted onwww.Braves.com/bcawareness.
