For Hamilton, it's full speed ahead

Reds center fielder says right shoulder not 100 perecent yet, but feels good

February 22nd, 2016

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- One of the many early arrivals to Reds camp, center fielder Billy Hamilton believes all is well with his surgically repaired right shoulder.
"Everything is feeling good," Hamilton said Monday morning before working out. "I am exactly at the point I thought I would be. Spring Training is a long time, a month-and-a-half. I've been doing stuff the whole [offseason]. There is no limitation to what I can do. I just have to keep working. You can't think you're feeling good and stop doing the process that I've been doing."

Hamilton had an arthroscopic procedure in late September to repair a torn labrum and spent most of the offseason in Cincinnati rehabilitating. He does not expect to be held back during drills at Spring Training, but he isn't quite 100 percent healthy.
"Not 100 percent yet, but I'm working at it," Hamilton said. "I can still do everything. But there are some problems here and there, but not enough to stop doing anything. I have no limitations.
"I should be ready for when the games start."
Notes from Reds camp
• Starter Raisel Iglesias threw from a mound for the first time this spring Monday. Iglesias, who is slightly behind schedule after an offseason shoulder flexibility program to combat fatigue, had a bullpen session of 20 pitches and reported that he felt good.

• Fellow starter Homer Bailey, who is coming back from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, had his second bullpen session one mound over from Iglesias.
• Minor League outfielder Juan Duran reported to camp Monday and took batting practice. When the regular season begins, Duran must serve an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
• The entire Reds squad will report to camp Tuesday. Position players, except for Hamilton and Zack Cozart, will take their physicals in the morning. Following a 11:30 a.m. MT team meeting, all 62 players are expected to participate in the first full-squad workout in the afternoon.
