Loney hits 3-run HR in Triple-A El Paso loss

Right-hander Brett Kennedy allowed two runs (one earned) while striking out 10 over six innings Friday night as low Class A Fort Wayne scored a 5-4 Midwest League win at Kane County.
Kennedy, the Padres' 11th-round Draft pick last June out of Fordham, allowed 8 hits and a walk to improve to 2-1 while lowering his earned run average for the 15-13 TinCaps.
Second baseman Peter Van Gansen (.250) was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Left fielder Rod Boykin (.262) was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Catcher Austin Allen (.425) was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Right fielder Mason Smith (.111) was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Right-hander Trey Wingenter followed Kennedy and allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk with five strikeouts in two innings. Right-hander Gerardo Reyes (3.60) allowed a run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in an inning to get his first save.
Two other Padres affiliates -- Triple-A El Paso and high Class A Lake Elsinore -- lost after being unable to hold late leads.
First baseman James Loney put El Paso ahead with a three-run homer. His second homer was part of a 2-for-4 game that saw Loney raise his batting average to .333. Right fielder Hunter Renfroe (.283) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Center fielder Manuel Margot (.270) was 2-for-4. Left fielder Jose Pirela (.300) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. SS Nick Noonan (.296) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Starting RHP Jeremy Guthrie (8.40 ERA) allowed two runs on four hits and five walks with four strikeouts in five innings. Right-hander Daniel Moskos (3.46) allowed a run on two hits with a strikeout in 2 2/3 innings.
Right-hander Jose Dominguez (0-1, 3.14) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with a strikeout in an inning to suffer the loss.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (9-19) -- Frisco 6, SAN ANTONIO 1: Starting RHP Luis Diaz (2-3, 5.77 ERA) allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings. RHP Kyle Lloyd (3.86) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk with a strikeout in two innings. 1B Mike Olt (.232) was 2-for-4 with a double to drive in the Missions lone run. LF Nick Torres had a double and a run scored in four at-bats.
HIGH CLASS A LAKE ELSINORE (12-17) -- SAN JOSE 6, Lake Elsinore 4: 1B Trae Santos (.167) was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. RF Franmil Reyes (.196) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored. CF Franchy Cordero (.239) was 2-for-5. Starting RHP Chris Huffman (3.67 ERA) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in five innings. LHP Taylor Cox (0.00) issued a walk and had a strikeout in two scoreless innings. RHP T.J. Weir (1-2, 1.93) allowed a walk and a run in one-third inning. LHP Jose Torres (2.51) allowed a run on a hit and a walk with a strikeout in two-thirds inning.
