MILWAUKEE -- A pair of outfielders ranked among the Brewers' Top 30 prospects hit the disabled list at Minor League affiliates this week, Clint Coulter with a right oblique strain and Michael Reed with a potential concussion.
Coulter's ailment is considered more serious. Ranked No. 13 on MLBPipeline.com's list of the club's prospects, Coulter was hurt on a swing last week and placed on the Class A Brevard County DL on Monday. The Brewers anticipate Coulter missing a couple of weeks at minimum.
Reed, the organization's No. 18 prospect, is in concussion protocol at Triple-A Colorado Springs after banging into the outfield wall in New Orleans on Tuesday. The Brewers are hopeful he will be sidelined the minimum seven days.
Both players were off to relatively quiet starts this season. Coulter is hitting .212 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 26 games. Reed, who got a taste of the Major Leagues last September, is batting .244 with no home runs, but he owns a .382 on-base percentage.
Elsewhere in the Minors:
• No. 4 prospect Josh Hader allowed a run on four hits in six innings for Double-A Biloxi on Wednesday and owns a 1.04 ERA after seven starts there. Left-handed hitters are 1-for-24 against him.
• Longtime farmhand Tim Dillard was the winning pitcher for Colorado Springs on Wednesday after working three scoreless innings and hitting a two-run home run. It was the third homer of Dillard's career, which spans 14 professional seasons including parts of four in the big leagues.
• Outfielder Keon Broxton has been hot for Colorado Springs since the Brewers demoted him following an 0-for-16 start in the Majors. Broxton entered Thursday on a 10-game hitting streak at Triple-A, and had five home runs in his last 15 games.
• Former supplemental first-round Draft pick Jake Gatewood, who is working on a move from shortstop to third base, hit five home runs in a 10-game span through Wednesday. He hit a pair of home runs in the first game of a doubleheader.
• Left-hander Sam Freeman has reported to Colorado Springs, but he will throw a handful of side sessions before joining the team's active roster. He has not pitched in a game since April 28, before the Brewers designated him for assignment.
