Rangers trade RHP Sam Dyson and cash considerations to San Francisco Giants in exchange for player to be named later or cash considerations

Arlington, Texas -- The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has traded right-handed pitcher Sam Dyson, along with cash considerations, to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Dyson, 29, had been designated for assignment by the Rangers on Friday, June 2. He had a 1-6 record over 17 relief appearances with Texas this season, allowing 23 runs-20 earned runs in 16.2 innings. He went 0-for-4 in save chances with a .392 opponents average. Originally acquired in a July 31, 2015 trade with the Miami Marlins, he compiled a 2.04 ERA spanning 104 appearances with Texas in 2015-16, converting 40 of 45 (88.9%) save chances with 22 holds. Dyson made 8 appearances this spring in the Cactus League and with the World Baseball Classic champion Team USA, combining for 9.0 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit.
