Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves.
Haniger (#17) will be in uniform and available for today's game (1:10 p.m. PT) vs. the Toronto Blue Jays.
 
Haniger, 26, hit .333 (6x18) with 3 runs, 1 double, 1 home run and 2 RBI in 5 games with AAA Tacoma during his rehab assignment. With Seattle this season, he hit .338 (27x80) with 20 runs, 7 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs, 16 RBI, 13 walks, 2 stolen bases and a .442 on-base percentage in 21 games before being placed on the 10-day disabled list on April 26th. He was lifted for a pinch-runner in the top of the 3rd inning on April 25th at Detroit. At the time of his placement on the disabled list, he ranked among the American League leaders in several offensive categories: 1st in runs (20), 2nd in on-base percentage (.442), T3rd in hits (27) and doubles (7), 4th in extra-base hits (12), T5th in RBI (16), T6th in walks (13), 7th in batting average (.338) and 8th in slugging (.600). The 6-foot-2, 210-pound outfielder hit safely in 13 consecutive games, April 6-19, batting .380 (19x50) with 13 runs, 4 doubles, 4 home runs, 15 RBI, 8 walks and 1 steal during that span. Haniger's 13-game hitting streak currently stands as the longest hitting streak in the Major Leagues this season. His 16 RBI were T2nd-most in the month of April by a Mariners rookie (also: Jim Maler, 1982 and Danny Tartabull, 1986), trailing only Alvin Davis' 17 RBI in April of 1984.
 
He was acquired the Mariners along with INF Jean Segura and LHP Zac Curtis from the Diamondbacks on Nov. 23, 2016 in exchange for RHP Taijuan Walker and INF Ketel Marte. Haniger made his Major League debut with Arizona last season on Aug. 16 vs. New York-NL. He went on to hit .229 (25x109) with 9 runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs and 17 RBI in 34 games with the Diamondbacks last season. The native of Mountain View, Calif., was originally selected by New York-NL in the 31st round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft but did not sign. He was selected in the 1st round (38th overall) of the 2012 Draft by Milwaukee.
 
Powell, 24, hit .179 (5x28) with 5 runs, 2 RBI and 6 walks in 20 games including 5 starts in two stints with Seattle this season. With AAA Tacoma this season, he has hit .288 (21x73) with 22 runs, 5 doubles, 9 RBI, 20 walks, 7 stolen bases and a .441 on-base percentage in 23 games. He was recalled by Seattle on April 29 and made his Major League debut the same day at Cleveland and appeared in three games with Seattle before being optioned to Tacoma on May 4. His second stint in the Majors with Seattle ran from May 16-June 10.
 
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound outfielder was originally acquired by the Mariners along with RHP Nathan Karns and LHP C.J. Riefenhauser from Tampa Bay for RHP Danny Farquhar, INF Brad Miller and INF Logan Morrison on Nov. 5, 2015. In parts of 6 minor leagues seasons in the Athletics (2012-14), Rays (2015) and Mariners organizations (2016-c), Powell is a career .300 (421x1403) hitter with 231 runs, 48 doubles, 19 triples, 9 home runs, 131 RBI, 70 steals and a .391 on-base percentage in 381 career minor league games. The native of Irvine, Calif., was originally selected by Oakland in the 20th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Orange Coast College.
