Pirates homestand highlights, September 18-27

The Pirates return home to PNC Park for the 12th and final homestand of the 2017 season and will play host to the Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals and Baltimore Orioles for an eight-game, 10-day stretch.

The eight-game homestand is highlighted by many activities in and around PNC Park. Along with the scheduled games this homestand, Wednesday, September 20 is University Night; Friday, September 22 is a postgame Fireworks Night; Sunday, September 24 is Fan Appreciation Day at PNC and Tuesday, September 26 is the first-ever Vegan Night.

Monday, September 18, 2017 - Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers (7:05 p.m.)

  • Flight 93 Day: As a part of "Educating the Next Generation at Flight 93 National Memorial," a Pirates Charities sponsored program, 500 students from regional school districts will attend tonight's game. The students represent schools that have visited Flight 93 National Memorial in 2016 and 2017 and participated in this new educational initiative to engage students who visit the memorial. In addition to the students attending, the program's Education Specialist and Flight 93 National Memorial's Chief of Interpretation will be recognized on the field in a pregame ceremony. Members of the Families of Flight 93 and the Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial will also be in attendance to raise awareness and stewardship for Flight 93 National Memorial, and the educational programming initiatives aimed at educating the next generation.

Tuesday, September 19, 2017 - Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers (7:05 p.m.)

  • Pirates Play Ball Team of the Game: Tonight is part of the Pirates season-long initiative honoring a youth baseball/softball team(s) of the game every Tuesday home game. Tonight the Pirates will honor the South Fayette 7U All-Star Team from the South Fayette Baseball Association. The 7U team finished with a 15-2 record this summer, and were the winners of four different post-season tournaments.
  • Pups in the Park: Fans can enjoy Bucco baseball with their pooch as the Pirates present the next-to-last Pup Night, presented by Rachael Ray Nutrish, of the 2017 season at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $35 with additional human tickets available for $35 each. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 - Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers (7:05 p.m.)

  • University Night with Duquesne University and La Roche College: Tonight is a Pirates University Night with TWO local institutions, Duquesne University and La Roche College. All fans who purchase University Night tickets thru the special offer will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a Pirates/Duquesne or a Pirates/La Roche branded hat. Thursday, September 21, 2017 - Off Day

  • Pirates Charities Golf Classic: Today is the Pirates Charities 12th annual Golf Classic, presented by Allegheny Health Network, at the Fox Chapel Golf Club. Participants will have the unique opportunity to spend the day with current and former Pirates players, broadcasters and front office executives while supporting the many and varied efforts of Pirates Charities throughout the year.

Friday, September 22, 2017 - Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Block Party: Come down early to join us before tonight's game for the Friday Baierl Block Party on Federal Street. Fans are invited to come party on the street as food and beer sales will be available along with Flashback performing on the Main Stage. Pirates alumni Kent Tekulve will be the special guest bartender at the Leinenkugel Bar that will be located on Federal Street.
  • Zambelli Fireworks Night: Fans are encouraged to stay in their seats immediately following the game and enjoy an amazing Zambelli Fireworks International fireworks display, presented by Sugardale.
  • Law Enforcement Night: The Pittsburgh Pirates and Major League Baseball have teamed up with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund to show our appreciation for the men and women of Pennsylvania who serve as law enforcement officers, corrections officers, public safety and first responders.   • Allergy Awareness Night: Tonight the Pirates are pleased to host Food Allergy Awareness Night at PNC Park that will feature a "Peanut Controlled Section" on the Pirates left field Miller Lite Rooftop.   • Play It Forward Pittsburgh: Tonight, representatives from Play It Forward Pittsburgh will be at the Community Treasures Booth throughout the game to educate fans and encourage them to "Play It Forward" by registering as organ donors. Play It Forward Pittsburgh is a citywide collaboration to start a movement. Together, we are eager to show the world how an entire city can come together to save lives.

Saturday, September 23, 2017 - Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Play Catch: Today from 9 a.m. to noon outside PNC Park, Allegheny Health Network, along with Josh Harrison, Francisco Cervelli and Jameson Taillon, will host the "Catch for Cancer" in honor of September being Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The goal is to raise awareness to catch cancer early with yearly screenings, and today the group will attempt to set The GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest game of catch. The event will take place outside PNC Park on West General Robinson Street between Mazeroski Way and Art Rooney Way on Pittsburgh's North Shore.
  • Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer: Tonight in a pregame on-field ceremony, the Pirates will recognize cyclists from the 2017 Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer Ride who are making their way through Pittsburgh as part of a seven team relay raising awareness and money for cancer research in support of Stand Up to Cancer. A team of Bristol-Myers Squibb Oncology employees will be riding through Pittsburgh as part of the fourth consecutive Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer Ride that will benefit Stand Up To Cancer's innovative cancer research initiatives.
  • Free Shirt Saturday: Tonight the Pirates popular Free Shirt days continue as the first 20,000 fans, with paid admission, will receive a Pirates tee presented by PPG.
  • Pirates Community Commitment Program: Tonight the Pirates will recognize one player from each of the team's minor league affiliates as the recipients of the organization's annual Pirates Community Commitment Program awards in on-field pregame ceremony. The Community Commitment Program encourages players throughout the Pirates system to emulate Roberto Clemente's legacy of community service.
  • Scratch and Win: Everyone is a winner with the special Scratch 'n Win presented by Eat 'n Park. All fans will receive a scratch-off ticket upon entering PNC Park with an opportunity to win one of several great prizes.

Sunday, September 24, 2017 - Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (1:35 p.m.)

  • Clint Hurdle Meet and Greet: Clint Hurdle will meet with the children and families of the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association-PA during a private pregame breakfast reception in the Pirates Press Conference Room.
  • Fan Appreciation Day: Throughout today's game, prizes will be given out to select ticket holders as part of the Pirates Fan Appreciation Day. Prizes include gift cards, 2018 Pirates tickets and more. In addition, the Pirates will be announcing seat locations of fans throughout the game who have been chosen for the opportunity to go onto the field post-game and receive a game-worn jersey autographed by the Pirates player.
  • Kids Warm-Up: Today, all kids ages 14 and younger, with paid admission, will receive a kids Pirates 3/4-sleeve warm-up shirt, presented by Starkist.
  • Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be special Play Ball stations, inflatable rides, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club, presented by Chick-fil-A, and more.
  • Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today's game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park with the Kids Run the Bases, presented by the Original Pizza Logs.

  • Live Like Lou Field Groundbreaking: Today at 11 a.m., representatives from the Pirates will take part in the groundbreaking of the soon to be renovated Live Like Lou Field at Emmerling Park in Cheswick, Pa. The morning event takes place in partnership with the Live Like Lou Foundation, Fox Chapel Area Baseball/Softball Association, Indiana Township, Pirates Charities and the Continental Building Co.
  • Vegan Night: Join the Pirates, Meatless Monday Pittsburgh, vegan enthusiasts, and all animal lovers for our first Vegan Night at PNC Park.   • First Pitch: Tonight, Pittsburgh's own Wiz Khalifa will toss out a ceremonial first pitch. Khalifa will perform on Saturday at the Thrival Music Festival in Pittsburgh.

Pirates Charities, Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle and his wife, Karla, announced the return of the "Wins for Kids" fundraising campaign for the 2017 season, in partnership with AT&T SportsNet. The program is now in its seventh season of raising funds for Pirates Charities and The Children's Institute of Pittsburgh's center for Prader-Willi Syndrome, through donations from fans and supporters. The Wins for Kids program encourages fans to contribute with a one-time donation for 2017 or monetary pledges for each Pirates win throughout the season.
