DETROIT -- Another day, another Indians win over the Tigers. Carlos Carrasco threw a four-hit shutout and Cleveland beat Detroit, 6-0, on Saturday at Comerica Park to move to 8-0 on the season against its division rival. The Tribe also won its eighth straight game.
Carrasco threw his seventh career complete game and third shutout -- his first since Sept. 25, 2015, against the Royals. In the Indians' last four games, their starters have gone the distance three times.

"Everything that we're working on in the bullpen, we're bringing into the game," Carrasco said. "We've got a little bit of competition between us. 'OK, so [Corey] Kluber and [Trevor] Bauer had a complete game, let's do that, just try to put zeros on the board and try to go deep in the game.'"
Detroit's Anibal Sanchez returned from a month-long bullpen stint to make his first start since May 31, but he allowed four earned runs over five innings. The Tribe jumped out early with two home runs in the first three at-bats off Sanchez and cruised the rest of the way. The Indians hit four solo home runs in the game and have outscored the Tigers 51-17 this season.

"We need a win. We need to win a game against this team," Sanchez said. "They've won [eight] straight. I don't know if that's happened before between Cleveland and the Tigers, but we want to win."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Carrasco cruises back to form: Carrasco allowed three hits and a walk over the first five innings, then went on to retire 11 straight batters and 13 of the last 14 he faced.
"Against that lineup, the way they're swinging it, that was really an impressive effort," Indians manager Terry Francona said.

Carrasco suffered a strained hamstring on April 24 at Comerica that sent him to the disabled list. Now, after his fifth start back from the DL, he feels that he has returned to his normal self after the injury.
"I felt that the first three games, I still felt a little bit off, but now I'm working and improving every day, and I feel better," Carrasco said. More >
First-inning blasts set the tone:Carlos Santana led the game off with a second-pitch home run to right field, his third career leadoff homer. After Jason Kipnis bounced out to Miguel Cabrera, Francisco Lindor also took Sanchez deep to right field for his fifth homer this month. Lindor went on to homer in the eighth inning, giving him his first career multi-homer game.

"I think it's my first multi-homer game ever," Lindor said. "I don't think I even did it in the Minor Leagues." More >
Tigers strand only pair of opportunities: Detroit only put a runner in scoring position twice. In the first inning, Cameron Maybin hit a one-out double, but a strikeout by Cabrera and a flyout by Victor Martinez ended the threat. Jose Iglesias hit a two-out double in the fifth, but Ian Kinsler followed with a strikeout.
"When you run up against good pitching, it doesn't matter how good you swing the bat," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "Good pitching always trumps good hitting. Simple as that. It was really good."
Sanchez finishes strong: Sanchez retired the final eight Cleveland batters he faced from the end of the third through the fifth. The veteran finished at 87 pitches, but that was a high pitch count considering he hadn't started since May 31.

"It was more about the pitches," Ausmus said. "The longer we could have kept him in there, the better. The bullpen's taxed. He was up in the 80s, pitch-wise, and he hadn't been anywhere near that in about a month." More >

WHAT'S NEXT
Indians:Josh Tomlin (8-1, 3.32) takes the mound Sunday at 1:10 p.m. ET as the Indians look to complete a three-game sweep of the Tigers. Tomlin is 2-0 against Detroit this season. He has quality starts in each of his last four outings, posting a 2.36 ERA in that span.
Tigers: Looking to avoid a home sweep, the Tigers will start Justin Verlander on Sunday. Verlander (7-5, 3.78), who allowed seven runs over five innings against Cleveland on May 3, is 6-2 with a 2.34 ERA since then.
