April 22nd, 2016

NEW YORK -- Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia recorded the 2,584th strikeout of his career to end the third inning of Friday night's 6-3 win over the Rays, passing Hall of Fame left-hander Warren Spahn to claim sole possession of 25th place on the all-time list.
Sabathia, who leads all active Major League pitchers in strikeouts, hit the milestone with his swinging strikeout of Steven Souza Jr. An inning earlier, Sabathia tied Spahn on a swinging strikeout of catcher Curt Casali during a two-run frame.

Now, the veteran will take aim at another Hall of Fame left-hander. Tom Glavine retired with 2,607 career strikeouts and resides in 24th place all time.
