"I've had concussions before and I feel like I got lucky this time around," Owings said. "I'm doing good. I feel like I'm definitely getting better rather than turning the other way. Obviously a little shaken up after everything happened, definitely a little confused."

The play was a perfect storm for a collision with Pollock, who was playing center, shifted over to left-center and Owings, who was playing right, shifted to right-center.

Both players were running at full speed for the ball and Owings caught it while sliding on the warning track. Pollock's knee hit Owings on the jaw and Owings' head snapped back and hit the warning track.

Pollock remained in the game and gave Arizona a 2-1 lead with a home run in the sixth inning.

Statcast™ rated the grab a five-star catch, adding that Owings ran 117 feet and the catch probability was 13 percent.

"I felt like I tried to call it last second," Owings said. "I felt like A.J. had a good bead on it too. I felt like I had to slide to catch the ball and like A.J. said, 'Outfield is all fun and games and then something like that happens.' "

Jarrod Dyson replaced Owings in right.
